HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With close to 450,000 Houstonians furloughed or unemployed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, in an effort to support Houston families and farmers, Rob Ferdows, president of Imagen Venues is joining the USDA’s Farmers-to-Families Food Box program by hosting a drive-by food drive providing two fresh local vegetable boxes and two gallons of milk to over 1,500 local families in need.
“As a longstanding business in the Houston area, it gives me great pride that my staff and I can utilize our space to help meet the current needs of our community,” says Ferdows, “We are partnering with Borden Dairy, and DiMare Fresh to make sure families have access to fresh vegetables and milk during these times of needs.”
Minutes from downtown Houston and the George R. Brown Convention Center, the food drive is located at 11903 Eastex Freeway – home to Imagen Venues’ premier full-service event spaces, Escapade Event Center and Stampede Event Center. Additionally, a 20+ acre paved parking lot surrounds the venues ensuring enough room to maintain social distancing. Recipients simply need only line up in their cars and pop open their trunks for contactless delivery by Imagen Venues staff. The food drive is open to the public Thursdays between 6/25/2020- 8/27/2020 (closed on 7/2/20) from 7 am CDT to 11 am CDT (while supplies last).
Serving the community throughout the years, Imagen Venues has utilized their event spaces to host food drives in times of need, such as during Hurricane Harvey. The central location and large parking lot is a convenient facility resource that can accommodate the Houston community during times of need.
“We applaud our farmers for their hard work every day, making sure Houstonians are well fed with nutritious foods,” adds Ferdows. “The USDA’s program is an ideal way for farmers to know their produce isn’t going to waste. We are thrilled to be part of an initiative that goes beyond farm to table; it touches the hearts of our recipients and brings healthy meals to families in need across the city.”
