AUGUSTA, Maine--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has selected NIC Inc.’s RxGov as its prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP). The program will launch this fall to assist the State in continuing its fight against the opioid crisis by providing better access to the State’s prescription drug data.
The platform is an addition to Maine’s ongoing partnership with NIC Maine (formerly known as Maine Information Network), which has operated InforME on behalf of the State of Maine for 21 years. The project kicked off in April and will launch this fall.
“NIC is excited to add the RxGov PDMP to our suite of solutions for the State of Maine,” said Dan Andrews, General Manager for NIC Maine. “Helping the State battle the opioid epidemic is just another way we can assist in serving the citizens of Maine, and we believe that delivering prescription drug data is critical to our mission.”
RxGov will provide the State with enhanced data visualizations, benchmarking, analytics and greater access to data for PDMP administrators to provide better oversight, more transparency and identify prescribing trends. In addition, NIC will work with stakeholders throughout the state to integrate the application into providers’ electronic health record systems.
“We are pleased to continue our partnership with NIC and InforME,” said Jessica Pollard, Ph.D., DHHS Office of Behavioral Health Director. “In keeping with our goals of reporting actionable data back to providers and developing policy driven by meaningful analytics, the RxGov toolset will bring a robust set of capabilities to Maine to help us in our fight against the opioid crisis.”
NIC has been providing PDMP systems and related technology since 2011, with longstanding partnerships in Montana, Wisconsin and Utah. In 2019, the RxGov PDMP was selected by the State of Maryland and the State of Nebraska to further efforts in curbing the opioid epidemic.
