DentaQuest Expands Support for Texas COVID-19 Relief Efforts with $400K in New Contributions

Donations will provide critical funding to dental associations and nonprofit organizations across the state

BOSTON--()--DentaQuest, the nation’s leading purpose-driven oral health organization, today announced a $300,000 contribution to the OneStar Foundation Texas COVID Relief Fund, which is raising and distributing funds to eligible organizations working to support the economic recovery of Texas communities impacted by the coronavirus. The DentaQuest donation is the largest received to date and brings the Fund’s total to $890,700 as of June 11, 2020.

The Fund will provide grants of up to $150,000 to support projects that address the unmet needs of vulnerable populations and underserved communities in the areas of community and economic development, healthcare, and education. “These grants will provide significant economic relief in parts of the state that typically attract less philanthropic support, and we thank DentaQuest for recognizing and helping to meet these communities’ needs,” said Chris Bugbee, President and CEO of OneStar Foundation. More information, including a link to apply for funding, is available at www.onestarfoundation.org/txcovidfund

“As the largest dental benefits administrator in Texas, serving 2.4 million members, we are working with partners, clients and providers across the state to make oral health care more affordable and easier to access with a focus on prevention,” said DentaQuest President and CEO Steve Pollock. “During the pandemic, we are doing our part to ensure a strong and resilient oral health community, and we are proud to lend our support to organizations helping millions of Texans manage through a particularly challenging period.”

DentaQuest is also committing an additional $100,000 to support dentists throughout the state with contributions to Dentists Who Care, Texas Dental Association Smiles Foundation and Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

These commitments follow the company’s recent contribution of $50,000 to support the continued work of five Feeding Texas regional food banks (Central Texas, El Paso, Houston, North Texas and San Antonio) and an earlier grant of $145,000 made by the DentaQuest Partnership for Oral Health Advancement to The Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Community Response Fund. “We remain firmly focused on our goals of achieving oral health for all and driving broad systemic changes,” said Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan, President and CEO of the DentaQuest Partnership for Oral Health Advancement and Catalyst Institute, Inc. “At the same time, a number of our grants are providing resources to community organizations that are best positioned to meet the immediate and emerging needs of some of the most vulnerable populations during and beyond the pandemic.”

“We commend DentaQuest on their demonstration of corporate community leadership through their support of COVID-19 relief efforts,” said Dave Scullin, President and CEO, Communities Foundation of Texas. “The DentaQuest mission of improving the oral health of all is well aligned with our vision of building thriving communities for all. Many in need are being helped, and we’re grateful for the significant contribution to our North Texas Community Response Fund.”
