International Association of Business Communicators Launches World Conference

Focus on Driving Business Results Though Communication, During Extraordinary Change

CHICAGO--()--The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the leading global association connecting communication professionals with the people and insights necessary to drive results, launches its annual World Conference (#IABC20) on Sunday, June 14. The meeting comes as businesses around the world are facing cultural, operational and reputational challenges.

IABC members make up a global network of communications professionals working in diverse industries and disciplines to identify, share, and apply the world’s leading communication practices. This year’s World Conference will address a range of business communications issues, from the most important lessons learned from COVID-19 to long-standing challenges facing the profession. Individual sessions and expert panels will focus on new communications technology, how to set communications priorities, workplace issues, and trends. The four-day event is being held virtually and registrants will have access to recorded conference sessions for a year.

“We are convening at a time of global change and opportunity for communications professionals,” said Victoria Dew, SCMP, IABC Executive Board Chair. “Our programs enable attendees to anticipate and then address these issues for businesses all over the world.”

Attendees will examine issues through the lens of innovation, obtaining new tools and practices focused on core principals. They will hear the latest information on topics such as “Continuous Disruption as the New Normal,” and “Effective Leadership During & After A Crisis: A Global Spotlight on COVID-19 and Racial Justice.”

In addition, IABC Foundation will host the international Gift of Communication event, a part of the World Conference since 2010. Participants provide pro bono advice and counsel, from a diverse set of perspectives, to assist local charitable organizations address their most pressing communication challenges.

Keynote speakers who will also share insights to spark new ideas include:

  • Max Luthy, Director of Trends & Insights at TrendWatching
  • Carmen Simon, Cognitive Neuroscientist at Memzy
  • Scott Amyx, Chair & Managing Partner at Amyx Ventures and Singularity University/ Smart City Accelerator Mentor and Startup Board Member

The World Conference will also host the virtual 2020 Excellence Gala on June 16 at 6 p.m. Pacific time. The Excellence Gala will celebrate the IABC’s prestigious Gold Quill winners, honoring those meeting the highest standards in our profession. The Gala will also feature the Chair’s Award (for enhancing the IABC’s reputation), The Rae Hamlin Award (for advocating the global standard of the communication profession), and the IABC Fellows (the highest honor bestowed by the IABC on its members).
