NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--RubiconMD, the leading eConsult platform providing access to specialist expertise, today announced it has added two new members to its leadership team and plans to release several new offerings that will help primary care clinicians better care for underserved populations. Dave Chokshi, MD, MSc, FACP, joins the team as Chair of the Clinical Advisory Council and Adam Gail joins as Senior Vice President of Business Development.
RubiconMD has always sought to create a world in which every patient has access to the health care they need, no matter who they are or where they live. Since securing $18M in Series C financing in March, this effort has only deepened. In the upcoming weeks, RubiconMD plans to launch a new product offering to better support PCPs caring for the increasing number of patients with behavioral health conditions. This premium add-on will include phone consults with trusted specialists, a broader range of specialties and diagnostic tools, and off-ramps to telepsychiatry and cognitive behavioral health therapy. The company will also launch pharmacy and chronic care offerings in the coming months.
“As we look to the next phase, we know how important it is to focus on all aspects of patient care,” Gil Addo, CEO and Co-founder of RubiconMD, said. “Access to care has always been a challenge, particularly for vulnerable populations, and COVID-19 has only exacerbated that. By adding two incredibly valuable team members and expanding our offerings, we hope to enable primary care clinicians to give their patients the best, most comprehensive care possible.”
Adam Gail joins RubiconMD with more than 15 years of experience scaling high-performing teams in both SaaS and risk-bearing sales models in the healthcare technology space. Gail will be overseeing all aspects of Business Development as RubiconMD expands its product offerings to better serve new and existing patient populations.
Most recently Gail held the position of Vice President of Sales at naviHealth, where he led the nationwide team responsible for driving the organization’s rapid expansion in the health system and provider markets. Prior to that he spent five years as a member of the sales leadership team that grew the commercial side of the business at Curaspan Health Group, ultimately resulting in the sale of the company to naviHealth in 2016.
“I am thrilled to join the RubiconMD team and be a part of such a passionate and innovative organization,” Gail said. “RubiconMD has proven that eConsults are an invaluable tool for primary care physicians and will only further improve patient outcomes with these new offerings. At such a critical time for healthcare, I look forward to helping deliver one of its most fundamental components: comprehensive access to specialty care.”
As Chair of the Clinical Advisory Council, Dr. Chokshi will be leveraging his extensive experience to ensure RubiconMD is consistently an impactful innovator in the primary care space. In this part-time role, he will serve as a key thought leader both internally and externally. He is a primary care internist at Bellevue Hospital and Clinical Associate Professor of Population Health and Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine. From 2014 - 2020, he served in leadership roles at NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest public health care system in the nation. In 2016, President Obama appointed him to the Advisory group on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health.
Dr. Chokshi trained in internal medicine at Brigham & Women’s hospital, where he received the Dunne Award for Compassionate Care and was a clinical fellow at Harvard Medical School. He received his M.D. with Alpha Omega Alpha distinction from the University of Pennsylvania. He also earned his MSc in global public health as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford.
“I decided to join the RubiconMD team because I have seen firsthand what a difference eConsults can make for patients accessing specialty care,” Dr. Chokshi said. “Among other health technology companies, RubiconMD has distinguished itself by its commitment to mission, by its humble leadership, and by ensuring that technology is subservient to the human relationships that characterize high-quality health care.”
