PulteGroup’s Built to Honor Program Partners with Operation FINALLY HOME and the Houston Texans to Award Mortgage-Free Home to Purple Heart Veteran

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Justin Reuber recently received the keys to his new mortgage-free and fully-furnished Centex home in the Windrow community in Hockley, Texas. The home was donated by PulteGroup’s Built to Honor® program, which provides the gift of a new home to wounded veterans and their families across the country.

In a small, socially distanced ceremony, SFC Reuber, his wife Hana and their three children saw their new home for the first time. The four bedroom, three-bath home was built specifically for the Reubers and includes unique design features to help meet their family’s needs.

“It has been a tremendous honor to build this home and express our gratitude to SFC Reuber and his family for their service to our country,” said Lindy Oliva, division president of PulteGroup’s Houston operations. “Thanks to the unwavering support of the GHBA, our trade partners, suppliers and our team who made this home dedication possible, especially during these unprecedented circumstances.”

SFC Reuber enlisted in 1999 and served three tours in Iraqi combat zones. Five days before he was due to return from his final deployment in Iraq, Reuber was severely wounded when his platoon was attacked by enemy forces. For his valor, he received several accolades including a Purple Heart, Combat Action Badge, and Iraq Campaign Medal with three campaign stars. He medically retired from the Army after 16 years of service. SFC Reuber and his family were first notified of their selection to receive a new home last November in a surprise announcement during a Houston Texans game at NRG Stadium.

“We hope this home will be a source of great comfort and happiness for the Reuber family and a place to create lasting memories together,” said Oliva.

The home was awarded through PulteGroup’s Built to Honor program in partnership with Operation FINALLY HOME, with support from the Greater Houston Builders Association and the Houston Texans.
