SYNERGY LABORATORIES ADDS TO ITS ARSENAL OF COVID-19 DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS
Synergy Laboratories (Synergy) is adding a new testing platform to augment its vital COVID-19 diagnostic capabilities. The new platform will more than double Synergy’s Reverse Transcription - Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing capability to approximately 2,500 tests per day while integrating seamlessly with Synergy’s already robust testing regimen which is serving first line responders, healthcare providers, hospitals, clinics and nursing homes all across the Gulf Coast and throughout the State of Alabama.
“Synergy was one of the first medical laboratories in South Alabama to offer FDA approved testing for the COVID-19 virus and this addition to our diagnostic toolbox will help us continue our leadership role in the pandemic fight. The need for fast, accurate testing is crucial to ensuring the safety of the public and we believe our additional testing capabilities will provide public health officials and healthcare providers with key information to help control the spread of this potentially deadly virus,” said Brad Pitts, Synergy’s Chief Executive Officer.
The new testing capability will utilize a Roche cobas® 6800 molecular testing unit that uses Nobel-prize winning PCR technology in a highly automated environment to provide accurate results in a minimal amount of time. This will enable public health officials to identify potential viral hotspots sooner and will give healthcare providers the information they need faster than ever before.
Brandon Biles, Synergy’s Chief Operating Officer, said the decision to add additional FDA-approved testing capabilities reflects Synergy’s commitment to public health and its support of its partner healthcare facilities and providers.
