NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NS1, the leader in next generation application networking, today announced it closed out the first quarter of 2020 at an accelerated pace, with 71% growth in bookings year over year and a rapid influx of new customers, with new customer bookings growing 159% year over year.
As enterprise architecture becomes increasingly complex and distributed, and recent events have accelerated digital transformation initiatives, system resilience has never been more critical to success. Organizations across all verticals are taking a closer look at how foundational technologies, such as DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (DDI), are critical to building and optimizing application and network infrastructure that is elastic, performant, and reliable, even in times of rapid change.
NS1 outpaced the accelerated growth of both the DNS service and DDI markets because of its software-defined approach to application networking. NS1 solutions provide the resilient foundational infrastructure that empowers customers to deliver exceptional application experiences in a rapidly changing world, allowing users to continue connecting, innovating, informing, educating, and moving the world forward.
“People around the world depend upon our technology to deliver and scale the applications that are keeping them connected, entertained, and informed on current events, enabling remote work, facilitating distance learning, and powering businesses through challenging times,” said Kris Beevers, co-founder and CEO, NS1. “The importance of application and network resilience resonates now more than ever, as businesses adapt to rapidly changing environmental and economic factors.”
NS1 Delivers Innovation and Resilience
NS1 sits in the critical traffic path for more than 600 major brands, including customers added in Q1 such as Zscaler, One Medical Group, BMO Global Asset Management, FURLA, Bulgari, and Ecritel. NS1 enters its second quarter committed to working with customers and partners to build resilient technology infrastructure upon which the world now relies.
New customers in media and entertainment are taking advantage of the powerful capabilities of NS1’s Pulsar Active Traffic Steering, which delivers unprecedented performance and reliability for streaming digital content and live events. NS1 engineers and Pulsar were instrumental in the delivery of February’s Super Bowl LIV—the most livestreamed Super Bowl event ever, with an average of 3.4 million concurrent viewers across multiple digital platforms. And NS1 continued to enable NetOps, DevOps, and SecOps teams to deploy and deliver applications and network infrastructure more quickly, efficiently, and securely with its software-defined Enterprise DDI solution, which unlocks flexibility and elasticity for dynamic network environments.

Rapidly Growing Customer Base
The first quarter of 2020 brought more than 58 new enterprise customer wins, representing a diverse set of industries such as video streaming, consumer technology, banking, healthcare, and retail. During the 12-month time period ending on March 31, the company maintained a 96% customer retention rate, adding nearly 200 new customers during that time.
Expanding the NS1 Team
In the first quarter of 2020, NS1 appointed its first chief information security officer, Ryan Davis. With more than 15 years of experience in information technology and security, Davis plans to unify the company’s corporate security strategy while introducing a more cohesive narrative around security as a company differentiator. Previously the CISO and CIO for Veracode, Davis will lean on his experience securing cloud-based products and services for customers of heavily regulated industries to help facilitate NS1’s continued expansion into these verticals, such as financial services and healthcare.
Partners and Channel Success
NS1 expanded its strategic partnership with Cisco to provide an integration between Cisco Umbrella and Enterprise DDI, which has led to consistent growth for NS1's partner program. Also, in Q1, channel program leader Warren Mead was named to CRN’s 2020 List of Channel Chiefs and NS1 was designated a 5-Star Vendor in CRN’s 2020 Partner Program Guide.
