Texas Health Aetna and CareSignal Launch Free COVID-19 Advisory Service

DALLAS--()--Texas Health Aetna and CareSignal, in partnership, have launched a free, text-based service providing expert guidance and tips on staying healthy during the COVID-19 outbreak. The service is available to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex community, without charge, in English and Spanish.

Anyone can text THA to 67634 and follow a few simple prompts to begin receiving updates related to COVID-19. The recommendations are based on the latest guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, including:

  • Information to help you connect to local public health resources
  • Educational tips for preventing the spread of COVID-19 or caring for someone with COVID-19, based on age and health status
  • Advice on masks, hygiene, social distancing and mental health
  • Reminders about identifying symptoms early and how to practice self-isolation

"As part of the DFW community, we must do what we can to protect each other and to protect the most vulnerable against COVID-19," said Dr. Delanor Doyle, Chief Medical Officer of Texas Health Aetna. "We will only be effective if social distancing is properly maintained. That's why we are making our digital tool with CareSignal publicly available to reach everyone, everywhere, in an easy way – particularly communities we don't normally touch – reinforcing the message to stay home and slow the curve. This is not just for our health plan members, but for the vulnerable people we love around us as well."

The new service is an extension of Texas Health Aetna's broader partnership with CareSignal to increase engagement and proactive care coordination for members with diabetes, hypertension and other chronic conditions. In addition to increasing public awareness and safety, Texas Health Aetna is using the texts to increase their members' access to care and reduce the strain on hospitals by encouraging the use of their free, integrated telehealth service, Anytime-MD.
