Rasmussen College Extends Enrollment Date for “Future Nurses of Florida” Grant to July

$5,000 grant award strengthens College’s commitment to affordable nursing education for local nursing students in Florida.

TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college1, today announced it is extending the enrollment date for its Future Nurses of Florida Grant to July 2020 given the heightened awareness and need for nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The grant will continue to be available for new, incoming Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program students, and cover $5,000 off program costs for qualifying BSN program students in the College’s Florida markets, including Fort Myers, Ocala, Orlando, Land O’ Lakes/East Pasco and Tampa/Brandon.

Rasmussen College is committed to providing support and ongoing learning opportunities for new BSN students, current nursing students and LPN graduates during these uncertain times. The goal is to continue to find ways to enroll and advance nursing students toward graduation and prepare them to fulfill the healthcare sector’s needs—today and into the future.

“We are extremely proud of our nurses and healthcare workers on the frontlines caring for and healing patients during this pandemic,” said Kelly McCullough, South Central regional dean of nursing, Rasmussen College. “The College also recognizes the demand for registered nurses in Florida and across our nation is not slowing down. Through the Rasmussen College Future Nurses of Florida Grant, we are working to close this gap and make tuition even more affordable and education more accessible for students looking to build a career in nursing.”

The Future Nurses of Florida Grant was originally launched February 2020 as part of Rasmussen College’s focus to help address the shortage of registered nurses and ensure access to proper healthcare for Floridians. The grant is exclusive to qualifying new BSN students residing in Florida and starting the program in July 2020. It is also available to LPN graduates continuing their education in one of Rasmussen’s Florida BSN programs. The grant reduces the program cost by $5,000 in the final quarter of a student’s BSN program.

The College also offers a similar grant in Wisconsin. The Future Nurses of Wisconsin Grant is exclusively for qualifying new students who have enrolled in a Professional Nursing Associate’s degree program and are Wisconsin residents. It awards qualifying students up to $4,600 toward tuition costs. Wisconsin residents can receive the grant even if they are attending at a campus outside of Wisconsin.

The College’s Future Nurses of Florida grant enables students to experience a CCNE-accredited program2 with competitive tuition and hands-on training that positions them for success in a nursing career. Upon earning a BSN degree, Rasmussen College students can confidently sit for the NCLEX-RN exam to earn the license needed to become an RN and start improving patients’ lives.

“Our BSN nursing program and training deliver the education, skills and knowledge needed to ensure our graduates are ready to fill roles in the high-demand career field of nursing,” said McCullough. “We constantly strive to prepare learners for the next phase of their careers by giving them the support and knowledge they need to flourish.”
