HINGHAM, Mass. & NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fairbanks Energy Services, a full-service design/build energy efficiency firm and developer of comprehensive commercial and industrial projects, today reports the completion of an energy reduction project at 25-40 Shore Boulevard, Astoria, NY. From EXIT signs to floor lights this aesthetically pleasing LED lighting build secured an incentive from the local utility of over $73,000 to help fund the project for Shore Towers Condominium.
Shore Towers, a 23-story luxury waterfront condominium built in 1989, sought turnkey energy efficiency solutions to be installed in this 409-unit building with minimal inconvenience to residents. Fairbanks Energy Services mobilized and installed a complete LED lighting project for Shore Towers, leveraging 30+ years of experience developing custom efficiency projects across industries, from fully occupied buildings and universities to distribution facilities and data centers.
Installed across the 300,000 square foot property, the lighting efficiency solutions are estimated to lower annual energy use in kWh by 161,235. Over 27,000 of those hours are saved due to occupancy sensors and daylight savings controls. The aesthetic elements of this build included installing lights in concrete ceilings as well as attention to fixture types, light levels and color temperature. Fairbanks Energy Services retrofitted or replaced fixtures and controls on 23 floors, all three stairwells, the gym and garages among other locations in the building.
“The improved sustainability of this condominium, made possible by Fairbanks Energy Services, is a welcome enhancement,” stated Chona Raskin, President of the Shore Towers Condominium Board. “Residents and property owners alike appreciate the increase in property value, notable annual savings and the improved lighting as a result of this retrofit project.”
“We are delighted to complete a LED lighting upgrade for Shore Towers Condominium with attention to both the needs of residents and management’s financial criteria,” said Adam Fairbanks, CEO at Fairbanks Energy Services. “Improving the efficiency of these buildings is particularly important in New York City’s five boroughs as the carbon emission regulations surrounding buildings over 25,000 square feet will be under heavy scrutiny in the coming years.”
