BALA CYNWYD, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Osage Venture Partners (OVP), a leading venture capital firm investing in early stage business-to-business software companies in the Eastern US, is pleased to announce that Emily Foote is joining the team as Principal.
Driven by the ideal of providing equal education opportunities, in 2011 Emily co-founded Practice, an education technology company, which helped clients such as Comcast, Domino’s Pizza, Stitch Fix, and UCSF Medical School accelerate skill development. Practice was sold in December 2017 to Instructure, a leading SaaS company operating as Canvas in the education market and Bridge in the corporate market. As co-founder of Practice, Emily guided the company from a video platform in the education market to a corporate learning solution, and managed growth across offices in Philadelphia and San Francisco. At Instructure, Emily wore many hats including VP of Strategy and VP of Customer Success.
Emily served on the board of Philly Startup Leaders, an organization focused on supporting Philadelphia-based entrepreneurs and is a frequent industry speaker, including appearances at Chief Learning Officer Exchange, PACT, Future Workplace Summit, and CLO Symposium.
“Emily’s experience as a founder, a business builder, a revenue driver, and, after a successful exit, as a corporate strategist, positions her well as an investor and as a resource for our portfolio of high growth tech companies,” said Nate Lentz, Managing Partner at Osage Venture Partners. “OVP is expanding our team of investors to ensure deep coverage of our target market and to deliver on our promise to our CEOs that we will support them on their journey,” Nate further explained. “Emily will be finding and leading investments and will rapidly be taking board roles at a number of our portfolio companies.”
Prior to co-founding Practice, Emily practiced law and taught as a Teach for America corps member in Atlanta and later for KIPP in Philadelphia and Washington, DC.
“In 2016, as an entrepreneur sitting across the table from the OVP team, I knew something was special. The OVP team was experienced, curious, creative, thoughtful, and kind. I knew they would be excellent advisors to entrepreneurs such as myself,” said Emily Foote. “Four years later, I could not be more humbled to be part of this team.”
Emily is a graduate of Drexel Law, has a Masters in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was captain of the lacrosse team and a journalist for the Daily Pennsylvanian.
