Clarion Experiences Record Growth in 2019

Continues Investment in Supporting Industry-Wide Efforts to Advance Science and Develop Solutions that Positively Impact Patient Lives

BOSTON--()--Clarion, a life sciences strategy and organizational consultancy, today announced that it experienced record growth in 2019, highlighted by an expanding network of clients, organic growth, a record class of new hires, and continued investment in industry-wide efforts to advance life science innovation and bring to market meaningful solutions for patients.

Clarion’s growth over the past year was driven by the expansion and diversification of its network of clients who are at the forefront of science and clinical care. While a majority of the company’s engagements continued to be within the United States, Clarion also expanded its support in Europe and emerging markets.

In 2019, Clarion experienced a significant increase in demand for its services which are focused on helping firms understand and translate the value of their technology and assets into clinically relevant and meaningful therapeutics. Our multi-year strategy of building scientific and commercialization expertise in areas of highest unmet need as well as with transformative technologies has positioned Clarion as the partner of choice for clients seeking to enhance the value of their innovative portfolios and assets. At Clarion, we are committed to a seamless commercialization path; building a shared organizational vision for the requirements and strategy to achieve success in continuously evolving markets. We are particularly proud of the depth of our client relationships and how we work with many to help Envision, Craft and Enable their success over time,” said Thomas Murtagh, Clarion Managing Director and Founder.

Key engagements spanned therapeutic areas, with special emphasis on oncology, rare diseases, immunology, and ophthalmology in the life sciences sector. Clarion worked side-by-side with its clients across the lifecycle to envision the commercial opportunity of their assets and prioritize their portfolios; craft strategies for success and enhance functional capabilities; and enable organizational agility and expert execution of new product launches and commercialization strategies.

Carol Kearney, Clarion Managing Director, noted “the scope and breadth of our projects demonstrated the depth of our relationships and our ability to address a broad set of client needs. We work with our clients to anticipate the future impact of their product, market, and/or organizational innovation, and then help them position their products for success through impactful, multi-functional strategy development and execution planning. Our support, provided to clients over time as their business evolves, enables them to address challenges and thrive in an increasingly complex environment.”

Organic Growth, New Hires

Over the past 15 years, Clarion’s leadership has worked closely together to guide the Company’s growth. In 2019, Clarion continued to foster an environment for continued advancement of its employees by promoting a principal to the leadership team and six individuals to the management team, providing unique perspectives and diverse skill sets to the firm’s leadership.

Clarion’s 2019 class of full-time hires was its largest to date and featured a mix of newly minted graduates and seasoned professionals. Through a strong internship program, its PROPEL leadership training program and recruitment activities at target universities, Clarion maintains a diverse and highly educated talent pool, with 51 percent of its employees holding advanced degrees and 35 percent having earned a PhD.

To deliver on our promise to clients to envision, craft, and enable growth through innovation and leadership, Clarion relies on a strong, experienced team. We continue to build upon our leadership within life sciences by recruiting talented professionals who range from recent graduates to industry veterans,” said Dominick Mastropoalo, Clarion Managing Director.

Commitment to Advancing Science

To further its commitment to advancing science within our industry, members of Clarion’s leadership team spoke at or served as moderators at key life science conferences such as the Wharton Health Care Business Conference, Emerging Frontiers in Oncology, the Greater Attleboro Opioid Symposium and CBI’s Annual Bio/Pharmaceutical Product Commercialization and Launch Roadmap.

Clarion also published key perspectives from four key oncology conferences, including the 2019 American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, the American Society for Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting, and attended additional conferences in 2019 spanning multiple therapeutic areas, including ophthalmology, transplantation, cell therapy, gene therapy and rare disease.
