WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DKT International, one of the largest providers of family planning products and services in the developing world, is proud to announce its record-breaking growth in 2019, having served 47.8 Couple Years Protection (CYPs) based off total contraceptive sales. This is a 7% increase from the previous year, according to DKT’s 2019 health impact data.
“Currently, DKT has offices in 57 countries which support public health institutions, NGOs, and expands its impact even further by providing family planning access via regional programs in West Africa, South America, Central America, and North Africa & the Middle East,” Chris Purdy, CEO of DKT International shared. “Over the past several years, DKT has seen accelerated growth and success in reaching men and women with family planning messaging, products, and services. We will continue our commitment to empower through access to family planning. In 2019 alone, we trained 66,500 healthcare providers to administer contraceptive methods to people who need it most.”
According to the MSI Health Impact Calculator, a tool developed to measure the impact of reproductive health programs, DKT’s products and services averted an estimated 7.8 million pregnancies, 35,000 maternal deaths, 56,000 infant deaths, and 10 million unsafe abortions. DKT’s contribution to Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (CPR) by country also continues to increase as some of their newer programs gain traction. For example, in Liberia and Guinea-Bissau, it is estimated that DKT products made a significant contribution to CPR in 2019 through providing protection against unintended pregnancy.
