TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Facedrive Inc. (“Facedrive” or the “Corporation”) (TSXV: FD), the first Canadian peer-to-peer, eco-friendly ridesharing network, is pleased to announce the completion of its successful debut season as the Official Ride Sharing Platform of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Forge FC Hamilton, which began in April 2019. Fans visiting the Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario, had the opportunity to enjoy the convenience of the “Facedrive Ride Zone” located on Balsam Avenue North in Hamilton to enhance the simplicity of their travel to and from events using our platform while achieving our mission of reducing the carbon footprint in an effort to improve the environment.
“Our drivers loved to be part of the excitement by transporting loyal Tiger-Cats and Forge FC fans from our Facedrive Ride Zone,” said Sayan Navaratnam, Chairman and CEO of Facedrive. “Our activations team spoke with over 20,000 fans to educate them about Facedrive’s offering and the environmental crisis their community is facing. We are thrilled to be the Official Ride Sharing Platform of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Forge FC Hamilton and look forward to moving fans again during the 2020 season.”
The 2019 Hamilton Tiger-Cats season is the 62nd season for the team in the Canadian Football League (“CFL”) and their 70th overall. It is the 150th year overall in the combined history of the Tiger-Cats and its predecessors, the Wildcats and Tigers. On October 19, 2019, the Tiger-Cats defeated the Ottawa Redblacks and recorded a franchise-record 13th win in a single season. The team finished the season with 15 wins and a perfect home record for the first time since the CFL went to an 18-game schedule, winning all nine of its home games.
The 2019 Forge FC season was the first season in the club’s history, as well as the first season in Canadian Premier League (“CPL”) history. On April 27, 2019, Forge FC hosted York9 FC in the inaugural CPL match at Tim Hortons Field. During the season, Forge FC also participated in the Canadian Championship, CONCACAF League, and the CPL Finals. On November 2, 2019, Forge FC defeated Cavalry FC 2–0 in the CPL Finals and became the first ever champions of the CPL.
“We’re extremely pleased with our Facedrive partnership, and hope that next season is even better,” said Matt Afinec, President and COO of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Forge FC Hamilton. “We share in Facedrive’s mission to provide eco-friendly, convenient and safe transportation for all community members, and our Facedrive Ride Zone served as a great alternative for anyone who came to the stadium for a football or soccer game in 2019. In total, Facedrive saved our fans over $35,000 during our 2019 season alone by offering fans a discount of $10 per ride for journeys to and from Tim Hortons Field.”
