NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Academy Securities, a registered broker-dealer, certified Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE), and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), today announced the expanded role of Mark Bavaro.
Mark Bavaro, former New York Giants tight-end and two-time Super Bowl champion, is a member of the New York Giants Ring of Honor and was drafted in the 4th round out of Notre Dame, where he was an All-American. Bavaro was a two-time All-Pro and made two appearance in the Pro Bowl. Later stops included the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles. He initially joined Academy Securities in 2012 and has recently been added to the Academy Short-Term Liquidity Team, led by Joe Tarditi and Matt McQuillen. In this role, he will be supporting the Institutional Money Market sales effort, focused on covering 2a7 funds, state and local investment teams, and corporate cash portfolios.
“Mark’s entire career in football and then the finance world has reflected his grit and character,” stated Academy’s President, Phil McConkey. “I am lucky to have Mark as my teammate for the second time as we advance our mission of training and employing veterans so they can enjoy a career in finance”.
Mr. Bavaro quickly emerged as a starter in his rookie season and became known for his toughness and determination, along with his skills as a blocker and receiver, helping lead the Giants to victory in Super Bowl XXI and XXV. He has also worked in the financial services industry since 2003, including his most recent role at Morgan Stanley.
Mr. Bavaro commented on joining Academy Securities: “I’m pleased to be expanding my role at Academy Securities, where we service the needs of our clients while also impacting the military veteran community.” Mr. Bavaro is frequently featured in Sports Media, and continues to influence generations of football players, and now financial services professionals and returning military heroes.
“Joe and I are thrilled to have Mark aboard Academy Securities. He brings a lifetime of relationships in key markets and will be a great addition to the team as we expand our money market footprint,” stated Co-Head of Short-Term Liquidity at Academy, Matt McQuillen.
