Janie L. Mines Joins Academy Securities’ Advisory Board

NEW YORK--()--Academy Securities, a registered broker-dealer, certified Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE), and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), today announced the addition of Janie L. Mines to its Advisory Board.

Janie L. Mines is the first African American woman to enter and graduate from the United States Naval Academy. Following her graduation in 1980, Ms. Mines held positions as a Navy Supply Corps officer and in several corporations including Procter & Gamble, Pepsi (Frito-Lay), Hershey Foods, and Bank of America. She is currently an independent executive management consultant serving nonprofits, government and Fortune 500 corporations.

Ms. Mines served as the Senior Advisor, Business Process, Senior Executive Service in the Office of the Secretary of the Navy. She currently serves on the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services. Ms. Mines is a published author, has won numerous awards, and was selected to carry the Olympic Torch. Ms. Mines has maintained her relationship with the Naval Academy throughout the decades and continues to positively impact the lives of midshipmen and naval officers through her mentorship and ongoing support.
