RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Orb Health, the leader in Chronic Care Management through its revolutionary Collaborative Virtual Care solution, announced today that it has added James D'Orta. M.D. to its Board of Directors.
Dr. D'Orta is a physician and entrepreneur who recently served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Consumer Health Services, Inc., which was acquired by Walgreen Company (NASDAQ: WBA) in 2013. He was formerly an investor, medical advisor and member of the board of directors to Minute Clinic, which was acquired by CVS (NYSE: CVS), Inc., and founder and CEO of LifeLink MD, which was acquired by Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT).
He is known for his unique insights into the bottlenecks of care access and alleviating those pinch points through strategic vision, innovation, and operational execution. The result has been a track record of disruption in scaling care services in non-intuitive ways that expands patient access to critical care services. Combined with his contributions on numerous boards of directors in both the profit and nonprofit sectors; his ability to position new and existing companies for long-term success; and his extensive national and international network of senior-level contacts in business, government, and nonprofits, Dr. D’Orta is poised to bring tremendous value to Orb Health’s vision of scalable virtual care.
“With the numbers of chronically ill patients exploding, providers and health systems are under tremendous pressure to help these vulnerable patient populations but quickly find they don’t have the resources required to build and scale the access needed to be effective,” said Dr. D’Orta. “Orb Health has a unique approach to expanding care capacity that leads to the scalable patient access that is needed to effectively improve patient outcomes without increasing the resource burden on the provider. This layered approach to healthcare is not only going to prove transformational for value-based care for the chronically ill, but potentially for all of patient access as well.”
Orb Health’s Collaborative Virtual Care™ enables the high-performance delivery of reimbursed Medicare services such as Chronic Care Management and more as a virtual extension of the practice, using integrated best practices, without requiring additional staff, applications, or office space. Its 2019 Orb Health Patient Outcomes study on the CCM program at Community Health Centers of Pinellas (CHCP) showed a 54% decrease in Emergency Department (ED) visits for Chronic Care patients with 6 or more chronic conditions within 9 months of implementation resulting in $6.22 million of projected annual Medicare savings per 1,000 patients.
“Orb Health is committed to finding unique solutions to expanding care to those that need it most through innovation that maximizes program effectiveness and enables scale to meet the skyrocketing demand for chronic care management,” said Bryan Krastins CEO, Orb Health, “Dr. D’Orta has been an integral part of several companies that have proven to make a difference in patient’s lives. We’re incredibly excited to have his vision and help guide us into reaching our full potential.”
Orb Health is pleased to also announce that several positions for nurses (LPNs, LVNs, CNAs, RNs, more) and other medical professions are available.
