TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today that the Shanghai High People's Court in China has ruled in its favor in the lawsuits alleging infringement of Mitsubishi Electric’s Jet Towel® hand dryer patent and design rights by Taizhou Dihour Electrical Appliances Co., Ltd., a Chinese manufacturer. The hand dryers manufactured by Taizhou Dihour were sold by Taizhou Dihour themselves and by Shanghai Jiecheng Electrical Appliances Co., Ltd. (“the Defendants”).
In a separate copyright infringement lawsuit filed against the Defendants, Mitsubishi Electric already won a preliminary court ruling on May 24, 2018; the court ruled that the Defendants had infringed Mitsubishi’s copyrights in 13 areas.
Mitsubishi Electric became the world’s first company to develop and market a new type of hand dryer that blows jets of air on both sides of the hand, pushing the water off rather than evaporating it, when it introduced its Jet Towel model in 1993.
