INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Republic Airways opened two pilot and flight attendant bases this week in Boston and Louisville, while earlier this year, the airline announced that it will grow its fleet by 16 percent with 30 additional aircraft that it will operate for Delta Air Lines.
The Boston base, which also includes a new maintenance operation, will support much of the additional Delta flying while Louisville operations will support all three of Republic’s partners —American Airlines, Delta and United Airlines. Republic will staff 150 pilots, flight attendants, maintenance and management in Boston initially, with plans to grow as they take delivery on the additional Delta jets.
Louisville, which is a former crew base for the airline, has been a Republic maintenance base since 2006. The base will employ 125 crew members in addition to its current maintenance staff of more than 75 individuals.
“It’s a big day for Republic. Any time we are able to talk about growth for our airline, it’s an exciting conversation. We’re no stranger to the Northeast, but the Boston base is new for us and we’re proud to add it to our list of domiciles,” said Paul Kinstedt, Republic Airways senior vice president and chief operating officer.
“Louisville has been an integral part of our company for nearly 15 years. Our crewmembers are very happy to be back there with our maintenance staff who stayed in Louisville after we transitioned to a single fleet type in 2016,” he added.
Republic, headquartered in Indianapolis, has 11 additional bases across the Midwest and East Coast and operates approximately 1,000 daily flights throughout the U.S., Canada, Caribbean and Central America for its mainline partners.
