FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GreenPath Financial Wellness, a national nonprofit that provides financial counseling, education and products, today released the first episode of its new podcast, “GreenPath Real Stories – Journeys of Financial Wellness.” The podcast will feature in-depth conversations with men and women who have overcome significant financial hurdles and come out on the other side. Other interviews will focus on individuals still working through their financial struggles.
“The goal of this podcast is to give real people a platform to tell their story,” says Chris Dlugozima, GreenPath Learning Experience Designer and one of the podcast’s hosts. “So often, we’re boiled down to our credit score. We aim to reframe the conversation around the broader human experience of money and financial health.”
New episodes of the podcast will air monthly and feature one-on-one conversations with everyday people who have reversed their often dire financial situations to arrive at a place of financial wellness. In the inaugural episode, Dlugozima talks with Katie, who over a number of years, accumulated $26,000 in credit card debt. This single mom enrolled in a Debt Management Plan (DMP) and was able to pay down her debt more quickly as a result. Today, Katie works for GreenPath helping others who find themselves in situations not unlike her own.
Future episodes will tell the stories of Matt and Kendall, who faced the prospect of filing for bankruptcy a second time; Angela, whose dream home almost turned into a financial nightmare; and Annie, who faces a difficult road financing her return to college.
“The podcast is part of GreenPath’s continued efforts to share real stories of people overcoming seemingly unsurmountable financial situations,” says Donna Doleman Dickerson, GreenPath’s Chief Marketing Officer. “This new platform allows us to share longer form, personal stories that offer hope. There are many success stories out there, and we look forward to sharing them." GreenPath Real Stories is available for download on iTunes, Spotify and Stitcher via the GreenPath website at www.greenpath.org/realstories.
Based in metro Detroit, GreenPath delivers personalized services to clients looking to live financially healthier lives. In 2018, GreenPath served 205,022 households on their journey to financial wellness.
“Not only did GreenPath help in a practical, nuts-and-bolts way lowering my debt by negotiating with my creditors and offering an affordable monthly payment plan, but it also changed my outlook,” shared a GreenPath client recently surveyed about her experience. “Seeing a light at the end of the tunnel transformed my attitude and spending habits.”
GreenPath’s DMP helps people pay off their credit card debt and faster than they can on their own at much lower interest rates. Upon completion of their DMP, 95% of surveyed GreenPath clients said they were better prepared to handle finances on their own and 88% reported a positive impact on their spending habits.
Tammy and Mike T. from Windsor, Colo., enrolled in a DMP with GreenPath to regain control of their finances.
“Being with GreenPath changed our lives, our family structure and our future,” shared the couple. “We both look at money and income in a completely different way now. Budgeting has become a full-time lifestyle so that we never, ever get in that position again. I feel confident that we will be able to provide a stress-free household for our marriage and for our children because we’re not drowning any longer, and we never will be again.”
Tammy will share the couple’s story in an upcoming episode of the “Real Stories” podcast.
