Kepler's Enters 65th Year; Celebrates Community-Supported Literary and Cultural Forum

Announces $750K Campaign for Nonprofit Kepler's Literary Foundation

MENLO PARK, Calif.--()--Entering its 65th year of serving the community, Kepler’s announced that it has achieved its goal of implementing a new successful business model comprised of Kepler’s Books and Kepler’s Literary Foundation, a nonprofit arts organization acclaimed for its literary and cultural programs.

The Foundation is now launching its next phase, a three-year sustaining fund drive to support its speaker series, youth events, discussion groups and literary seminars. The Foundation has already secured commitments of $400,000 for the fund, which aims to raise $750,000 in tax-deductible donations to sustain the nonprofit through the summer of 2022.

“The support of early donors to this current campaign validates our mission of delivering community-based literary and cultural programs for audiences of all ages and backgrounds, ” said Jean Forstner, executive director of Kepler’s Literary Foundation. “We are delighted to see strong community support for our programs and welcome new donors to help meet our fundraising goals.”

Kepler’s Literary Foundation has established itself as the top literary and cultural forum in Silicon Valley. It produces more than 150 literary programs each year reaching 11,000 adults and over 14,000 young readers at local schools on the Peninsula, including underserved schools in Palo Alto and Belle Haven.

In addition to implementing a successful new hybrid business model, Kepler’s has invested in developing and retaining dedicated staff by improving compensation levels by 75%, helping to retain high-caliber talent in one of the highest cost-of-living areas in the country.

In a move to extend its mission, Kepler’s Literary Foundation recently launched an initiative to produce literary programs with notable writers for employees of major Silicon Valley corporations. SAP, the world’s largest software company, selected the Foundation to produce programs for its SAP Academy for Engineering.

“Our model for a non-traditional retail bookstore has opened doors to new relationships and services, offering new experiences and opportunities for our community,” said Praveen Madan, CEO of Kepler’s Books and board member of Kepler’s Literary Foundation. “We appreciate the support of our core donors, and the growing number of community members aligned with our mission and values.”
