OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--e.l.f. Cosmetics (NYSE:ELF) today announced the launch of its annual Beautyscape event that mixes beauty with business, to inspire and connect its community of beauty enthusiasts in a unique way. Beautyscape, which was born out of e.l.f.’s brand values to empower and pay it forward, offers attendees hands on mentoring, engagement and support to foster their professional growth and development.
In its fourth year, the four-day event brings 25 beauty influencers together to experience and connect with the e.l.f. brand in Nassau, Bahamas. Beautyscape provides them with access to the best of beauty and the opportunity to learn, compete and collaborate alongside other up-and-coming beauty enthusiasts. Beautyscape participants will work in teams to create a tropical-inspired collection with e.l.f. mentors by their side, teaching them the product development process. Each member of the winning team will receive a $10,000 cash prize and the opportunity to collaborate with e.l.f. on a collection that is planned for summer 2020.
This year, over 1,400 beauty loyalists -- nearly twice the entries from 2018 -- submitted their best tropical-inspired makeup look to compete for the coveted spots. Finalists were chosen to join e.l.f. for a career-changing opportunity, discover new trends and connect with industry leaders including TV personality and performer, Frankie Grande; celebrity make-up artist, Nam Vo; and keynote speaker, celebrity hairstylist, Jen Atkin, who combined have a reach of 5.5 million. Atkin’s keynote will reflect on how the self-made businesswoman became what the New York Times calls “The Most Influential Hairstylist in the World,” counting top models Chrissy Teigen, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and Gigi and Bella Hadid as some of her most loyal clientele. She will discuss what it took to launch her haircare line OUAI, the first digitally connected haircare brand, and how she created a digital community to help other hairstylists, ManeAddicts.com, which gives access to the world’s most influential trendsetters, celebrities, hairstylists and haircare brands.
“Beautyscape’s mission is to give back to beauty’s rising super stars, who personify the e.l.f. values of inclusivity, accessibility and authenticity. Grassroots digital engagement has long been at the core of the e.l.f. brand, and Beautyscape allows us to take engagement even deeper by strengthening relationships and teaching lasting lessons about beauty and business. e.l.f. is proud to work with industry icons like Jen and Nam to support the next generation of rising stars on their personal and professional journeys,” said Kory Marchisotto, e.l.f.’s Chief Marketing Officer.
To commemorate the growth of this signature event and to honor the Island of Bahamas’ inspiring, natural beauty, e.l.f. will be donating to UNICEF USA for Bahamas — an organization that has been crucial in bringing aide to the island after Hurricane Dorian. e.l.f. has also partnered with Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board (NPIPB) to support forthcoming opportunities to bring awareness to the island. Additionally, in partnership with Lend a Hand Bahamas and Equality Bahamas, e.l.f. Beautyscape participants will be working together to build and donate hygiene kits that feature functional e.l.f. products to be distributed to those displaced by Dorian.
