Heelstone Renewable Energy Hires Jeff Corder and Dean Akey

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--()--Heelstone Renewable Energy, LLC (“Heelstone”), a leading utility-scale solar developer, announced today the hiring of Jeff Corder as Chief Commercial Officer and Dean Akey as Executive Vice President of Business Development. Corder and Akey will lead Heelstone’s business development efforts including commercial strategy, origination and commodities hedging.

Corder has over 25 years of experience in the power industry working with and for IPPs, private equity and infrastructure funds, municipal and investor owned utilities, joint action agencies and electric cooperatives. Prior to Heelstone, Corder held executive positions at GE Energy Financial Services, Tyr Energy, LS Power and Aquila. Most recently, Corder has been consulting, and will continue to consult, with, Ares Infrastructure and Power Group and Toyota Tsusho to complete the development of the 700 MW St. Joseph Phase II project in Indiana.

Over his 30 years of experience in the power industry, Akey has worked for investor owned utilities, IPPs, power marketing companies and original equipment manufacturers holding key executive positions at Tyr Energy, Nordex, Aquila and Illinois Power. Akey has successfully developed over 300 MW of renewable projects to go along with over 1,600 MW of natural gas projects.
