RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AmeriHealth Caritas, a national leader in Medicaid managed care and other health care solutions for those most in need, announced today that it has appointed Heidi Chan as market president of its North Carolina health plan, AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina.
In this role, Chan will be responsible for the plan’s strategic direction, general oversight of all of the plan’s day to day operations, including medical affairs, quality, provider network management, marketing and community outreach, growth, and leadership. She will also serve as the plan’s primary point of contact with the state of North Carolina.
Chan currently serves as market president for Blue Cross Complete of Michigan and has held that role since 2015. Under her stewardship, Blue Cross Complete of Michigan was the fastest-growing Medicaid managed care health plan in Michigan. Blue Cross Complete is a joint venture between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and AmeriHealth Caritas.
Chan has worked for AmeriHealth Caritas since 2006. Prior to joining the health care industry, she served as an aide to Pennsylvania State Representative George Kenney, then chairman of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ Health and Human Services Committee.
Chan holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration degree in Health Care Management from Regis University.

AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina is slated to begin serving North Carolina Medicaid enrollees statewide in February 2020.
