LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mars Reel, the leading high school sports focused media and consumer brand in the U.S., has teamed up with ESPN to produce a 30-minute documentary that will provide an eye opening story of the grit and determination of the Niagara Falls High School basketball team and how the community has rallied around the team.
Niagara Falls High was first put on the map when its basketball team overcame the high-crime streets of Niagara Falls to become the number 1 team in the nation. The film takes a look at this year’s team who are poised to build on that legacy and make another title run with sophomore home-grown phenoms Willie Lightfoot, Roddy Gayle and Jalen Bradberry. Paul Harris, the leader of the 2005 championship team is also featured in the film. The Niagara Falls Story will air on ESPNU on Friday, September 27th at 8pm (EDT).
“Personality-driven stories of student-athletes play very well with our audience,” said Dan Margulis, Senior Director, Programming & Acquisitions at ESPN. “Mars Reel’s ability to tap into the lives of these players in a deep, meaningful way through story telling is impressive to us.”
“This collaboration with ESPN allows us to extend our content offering beyond our current channels into a much broader audience,” said Brandon Deyo, co-founder and CEO, Mars Reel. “We are very excited at this opportunity to work with ESPN to showcase our style of content for their viewers.
“As former student athletes ourselves, we are very familiar with both the culture and journeys of the players we cover,” said Bradley Deyo, co-founder and COO, Mars Reel. “We are proud of the way we are able to connect with them to tell their stories.”
