VIENNA, Va.--()--Navy Federal Credit Union announced today an upgrade to its More Rewards American Express Card, giving cardholders even more rewards for the purchases they make most often. The credit card, which previously offered 3X points at supermarkets and gas stations, 2X points at restaurants and 1 point on everything else, will now offer:

  • 3X points on dining (Upgrade!)
  • 3X points on transit (New!)
  • 3X points at supermarkets
  • 3X points at gas stations
  • 1X point on everything else

The card’s newest reward category—transit—will now reward cardholders 3X points for purchases at tolls, parking garages, ride-sharing apps, taxis, metro and more. Dining will now reward 3X points for purchases made at restaurants and through food ordering apps.

“With this upgrade, cardholders will receive even more value for all the different ways they eat and get around,” said Aaron Aggerwal, vice president of credit cards at Navy Federal. “For our members, commuting often means more than just filling up the tank just as dining means more than just sitting down at a restaurant. This card was built to provide the best rewards for purchases they make every day.”

Starting today, the card is available to both new and existing cardholders. Current introductory offers include 30,000 bonus points when cardholders spend $3,000 within the first 90 days and 0% intro APR on purchases for 12 months; after that a variable rate between 11.65% and 18% applies.

Credit card industry expert Ted Rossman with CreditCards.com praises the newly refreshed More Rewards Card, citing a generous return for no annual fee. “This card offers the highest return I’ve seen on everyday spending,” said Rossman. “With no annual fee and three points per dollar at restaurants, supermarkets, gas stations and on transit, it has something for everyone.”

New and existing cardholders can continue to enjoy the no annual fee card, along with no balance transfer fee, no foreign transaction fees and no cash advance fees. Additional benefits include early access to purchase tickets to shows, sports and concerts worldwide, roadside assistance, special savings, and complimentary benefits at restaurants.

“We have a strong partnership with Navy Federal Credit Union and are thrilled that we could work together to help their cardholders earn more rewards at the places they spend most often,” said Ann Sattin, vice president, Global Network Services, American Express. “Cardholders can now enjoy an even more rewarding card with the backing, trust and security of the American Express network and Navy Federal.”

The Navy Federal More Rewards American Express® Card is issued and administered by Navy Federal Credit Union. American Express is a federally registered service mark of American Express and is used by the issuer pursuant to a license.
