LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Orthopaedic Institute for Children has announced that its annual “Swing for Kids Golf Classic” will be held Sept. 9 at the beautiful Palos Verdes Golf Club. Proceeds will go to OIC’s 2020 campaign: A Vision for Our Future and help support the creation of The Ahmanson Foundation Fracture Center on OIC’s downtown Los Angeles campus.
Serving as master of ceremonies for the tournament will be longtime OIC supporter and star of the Netflix hit series “Insatiable” Christopher Gorham. Other cast members—including Sarah Colonna, Arden Myrin, Michael Provost and Irene Choi—are also scheduled to attend, and Netflix itself will serve as one of the event’s sponsors. Operating in more than 190 countries, Netflix currently has more than 148 million paid subscribers worldwide, including 60 million in the United States; and its sponsorship of the Swing for Kids Golf Classic marks another significant milestone in the history of this tournament, which each year grows in popularity and esteem.
Among the golfers participating in this year’s event will be actors Matt Barr and Sebastian Roché. Barr currently stars as Danny McNamara in the action–adventure television series “Blood and Treasure.” Roché is known for his roles as Kurt Mendel in “Odyssey 5,” Jerry Jacks in “General Hospital,” Thomas Jerome Newton in “Fringe,” Balthazar in “Supernatural,” Mikael in both “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals,” and Reichsminister Martin Heusmann in “The Man in the High Castle.”
“By supporting events such as the Swing for Kids Golf Classic, you help make certain our ability to provide this amazing patient care and ensure that all children with orthopaedic conditions have a future where they can grow well and play well,” said OIC Golf Classic Chair and long-time advocate Dan Madden.
The Ahmanson Foundation Fracture Center is a key element in transforming OIC’s Lowman Building into a state-of-the-art medical pavilion. Last month OIC opened Los Angeles’ newest and most modern pediatric orthopaedic urgent care center; and other components of the transformation include a new physical therapy center, research laboratories, pharmacy, Harbison Radiology and The Luck Family Lecture Hall. This makeover will help ensure that OIC’s expert surgeons, doctors and nurses have the best facilities and equipment to care for the increasing number of children who come through its doors.
“The 2019 Swing for Kids Golf Classic is generously supported by an incredible array of sponsors who share our vision and want to give every child who suffers from a traumatic orthopaedic injury or is sidelined by a sports injury a healthier and happier tomorrow, ” said Golf Event Vice Chairman Jason Silletti. This year’s presenting sponsor is the Roopal and Bharati Shah family with other sponsors including 1st Century Bank, Netflix, Jack Nadel International, the Silletti family, the Rose Bowl, Jacobs Engineering, Fidelity Investments, United Healthcare, Bristol Farms, The Point, RF 10, Murray and ExpertMRI.
Various levels of sponsorship are still available as are slots for individual golfers who will play the beautiful course and be treated to a reception, silent auction and unique culinary dining experience that evening featuring many of Los Angeles’ top mixologists.
This year’s silent auction features several extraordinary experiences, such as a one week stay at an Oregon Beach House and Paso Robles Winery, Brewery, and Distillery Tours. View other auction items at oicswingforkids.com/silent-auction.
