Pikes Peak Online School Powers Up for the New Year

WESTMINSTER, Colo.--()--Pikes Peak Online School (PPOS) began the 2019-2020 school year on September 3. An online public school program, PPOS offers students in grades 9-12 from across the state an education model that will set them up for success through high school and beyond.

PPOS provides a personalized approach to learning, delivering engaging curriculum entirely online. In pursuit of their high school diplomas or a GED, PPOS students take advantage of the school’s rigorous curriculum and myriad support services to ensure their academic and personal success.

“At PPOS, we understand that a traditional learning environment doesn’t work for every student,” said Nicole Tiley, head of school. “The online classroom gives students a safe place to learn, explore and grow. Whatever their circumstances, we are partners in support of their achievements.”

PPOS ensures students are ready to learn and succeed after high school with its Student Success Program. Resources such as the school’s Family Academic Support Team empowers students to overcome academic, social, emotional, medical or other challenges as they chart a path towards high school completion.

Students take benchmark assessments at the beginning of the school year to identify strengths and challenges, and the results are used to develop an individually tailored learning plan for each student. For many, this Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) expands beyond current academic objectives to include post-secondary goals for college or a career.

Throughout the school year, PPOS builds a sense of community through in-person field trips, social outings and service learning opportunities. PPOS celebrates the end of the school year with an in-person prom and honors graduating seniors with an in-person commencement ceremony in the spring. Virtual clubs and student organizations also allow students to further explore their interests together in the online setting.

Enrollment is still open for the 2019-2020 school year. To learn more, visit ppos.k12.com or download the K12 mobile app for iOS and Android devices.
