CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--InterSystems, a global leader in information technology platforms for health, business and government applications, announced today that Nebraska Health Information Initiative (NEHII), the statewide health information exchange (HIE) designed to share clinical and administrative data among providers in Nebraska and neighboring states, has selected InterSystems to serve as the foundational technology for the HIE. NEHII will run on InterSystems HealthShare.
Founded in 2008, NEHII is a public-private collaboration designed with the goal of sharing comprehensive health information to promote health care transformation while protecting the security and privacy of medical information. The organization covers the entire population of Nebraska, plus a portion of surrounding states – encompassing more than 1.8 million lives. NEHII is implementing several core services within the HealthShare product suite, including Unified Care Record and Health Insight, to support coordinated care and population health management. HealthShare will allow NEHII to connect a broader set of data sources to its members.
“Our goal is to ensure that patients, providers and payers get a comprehensive view of health records and are able to extract as much value from the data as possible to help drive better patient care and outcomes,” said Jaime Bland, Chief Executive Officer at NEHII. “We needed a system that would enable us to deliver more innovative services to our constituents, as well as help manage cost, utilization and quality of care. InterSystems empowers us to not only handle massive amounts of data in different formats, but also gives us the flexibility to grow and expand our services beyond just being a data repository.”
The InterSystems software will be deployed as a HealthShare Managed Solution. NEHII selected the HealthShare capabilities that would address its needs and InterSystems implementation engineers will configure the software, build the connections and then manage the day-to-day operations. For NEHII, this service allows it to focus on providing the best managed care services possible to the millions of members enrolled, in addition to providing the flexibility to rapidly scale upward or add new services as the need arises.
“NEHII is breaking away from the traditional role of health information exchanges to offer a true platform for coordinated, managed care,” said Don Woodlock, vice president of InterSystems HealthShare. “We are delighted to support NEHII in their efforts to build out and expand their service offerings for their participants, including live reporting dashboards, real-time analytics and more.”
