LOUISVILLE, Ky. & BILLINGS, Mont.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kindred Healthcare, LLC (“Kindred”), Billings Clinic and St. Vincent Healthcare today announced the grand opening of The Rehabilitation Hospital of Montana, located on Billings’ West End at 3572 Hesper Road. The Rehabilitation Hospital of Montana is a partnership between the three organizations to operate the 34-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital. This is the first and only freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Montana.
The new inpatient rehabilitation hospital features all-private rooms and treats patients who are recovering from conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. The hospital will meet the growing clinical needs of Billings, the state and region. Kindred will manage the day-to-day operations of the hospital, which is expected to employ more than 100 caregivers and staff.
Kindred and St. Vincent Healthcare have an existing relationship as Kindred managed New Hope, the former inpatient rehabilitation unit at St. Vincent Healthcare. Kindred and St. Vincent Healthcare transferred the operations of this unit to the new rehabilitation hospital.
“We are pleased to expand our relationship with St. Vincent Healthcare and look forward to working with Billings Clinic on this high-quality rehabilitation hospital that will greatly benefit the community,” said Russ Bailey, Chief Operating Officer, Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospitals, Kindred Hospital Rehabilitation Services. “This new hospital will address the growing need for inpatient rehabilitation services in Montana and the region by combining the strengths of Kindred and the two premier healthcare providers in Billings.”
“This collaboration provides our community and the region greater access to new, high-quality rehabilitation services close to home,” said Robert Merchant, MD, Billings Clinic Interim co-Chief Executive Officer. “We are bringing together the resources and knowledge of two of the strongest healthcare organizations in our region with Kindred’s nationally-recognized expertise in post-acute care for this facility, the first of its kind in Montana. This strengthens the system of providing rehabilitation services already integrated within our organizations and brings new resources to benefit the people we serve.”
“This is a very exciting time for our three organizations. As we work together in this unique collaboration, we are ensuring patients across Montana receive specialized inpatient rehabilitation services in a state-of-the-art facility,” said Steve Loveless, St. Vincent Healthcare and SCL Health Montana President. St. Vincent Healthcare is part of SCL Health, based out of Broomfield, Colorado. “Building on a great legacy of care, The Rehabilitation Hospital of Montana allows us to expand our rehabilitation services to provide patients with the high-quality services and team-based care they deserve and need so they can return to the life they want to live.”
