Saf-Gard Safety Shoe Company and Timberland Pro to Host Beautification Day at the Heroes Center

HIGH POINT, N.C.--()--Saf-Gard Safety Shoe Company, along with Timberland PRO and Lowes Home Improvement's Generation T network, will be coming together on Tuesday, July 23rd, to create an outdoor reflection and fellowship space at The Heroes Center. "We are honored to not only be a part of this particular project at The Heroes Center but also to be involved with the movement of Generation T," Saf-Gard's Corporate Director of Marketing, Sheri Fording shared.

"We are beyond excited to have the chance to give to a group as deserving as The Heroes Center. Together we plan on creating an outdoor space that will serve those that have served this country. We want to create a space for veterans that are now embarking on the next chapter in their life - making the world a better place through work in the trades," Timberland PRO's Southeast Sales Director, Alan Jones shared.

As many Americans are becoming increasingly aware of, the skilled trades gap is a dire problem. By 2028, there will be 3 million job openings in the skilled trades that need to be filled. "Saf-Gard and Timberland PRO have partnered with Generation T on its mission to connect people with those opportunities. This project with The Heroes Center is a simple way to bring an area of serenity to those trying to make their way in the skilled trades world and those who have given back so much of themselves to this country already," Fording added.

Once an abandoned campground, The Heroes Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to serve, support, and strengthen GTCC’s student veterans with programs, services, events, and resources. By housing student veterans in a community of their peers, hosting activities, and providing access to professional resources in a peaceful and nurturing environment, The Heroes Center helps veterans complete college and transition successfully from military to civilian life.

Lowe's Home Improvement has donated all necessary materials to execute the projects at hand, and the tools used to create the reflection areas will be gifted to The Heroes Center for continued use. "From the early stages of planning, Saf-Gard and Timberland PRO have been blessed first with discovering the people and wonderful grounds in High Point, then with local partners such as Lowe's and metal artist, Jim Gallucci to help turn our visions into a reality," Jones added.

Vice President of Saf-Gard Safety Shoe Company, Jeff Kubis shared that “Saf-Gard is excited to spend a day helping with projects around The Heroes Center. We are honored to be helping with a project that will provide housing to our veterans as they attend classes at GTCC. It is a true blessing to be a part of such an amazing center that is doing great work in our community.” Together, these companies seek to enhance The Heroes Center by building a fire pit and seating, raised garden beds, additional outdoor seating, and a fountain to offer the veterans outdoor spaces for reflection and healing for decades to come.
