Blue Hexagon Unveils Native Deep Learning-Powered Threat Protection Platform For Amazon Web Services

Industry’s leading deep learning-based threat protection now supports AWS VPC traffic mirroring to further secure AWS enterprise cloud deployments against cyberthreats

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--Blue Hexagon, a deep learning and cybersecurity pioneer, announced an extension of its real-time deep learning-powered threat protection platform for Amazon Web Services (AWS). With support for Amazon VPC traffic mirroring, Blue Hexagon now provides the fastest and most accurate threat prevention for enterprises operating in and migrating to the AWS cloud, without requiring any cloud re-architecture, IP re-configuration or agent deployments.

A recent study estimated that 83% of workloads will migrate to the cloud in 2020, while the same study found that 66% of IT professionals surveyed said security was their biggest concern in adopting an enterprise cloud computing strategy. Blue Hexagon answers these concerns with real-time threat detection and prevention for AWS.

Existing security solutions for infrastructure cloud deployments have relied on agents installed on virtual machines which can complicate deployments, be prohibitively expensive, and deliver sub-optimal results. Amazon VPC traffic mirroring allows security teams to gain insight and access to network traffic within and across their Amazon VPC infrastructure for content inspection and threat monitoring. That means security teams can now replicate network traffic at any Elastic Network Interface (ENI) within their Amazon VPC for inspection by Blue Hexagon without the need to install and manage agents on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances.

Blue Hexagon for AWS represents a significant advantage over typical cloud security products which deploy virtual versions of traditional signature, or sandbox-based threat protection. These products are limited by their inability to keep pace with the speed and volume of malicious threat variants and subject to evasive attacker techniques. Additionally, malware sandboxes can be challenging to deploy in the cloud because most popular offerings are cloud hosted themselves. Blue Hexagon for AWS delivers high-efficacy threat verdicts in less than a second to keep up with the ephemeral nature of cloud workloads.

“Our customers have greatly benefited from our deep learning-powered threat protection platform to stop enterprise network threats in real-time. The ability to detect threats in cloud environments is a natural extension of our security strategy. Amazon VPC traffic mirroring delivers full visibility into all Amazon VPC traffic and allows us to unleash the speed, efficacy, and coverage of our deep-learning based threat protection to all AWS traffic. Blue Hexagon customers can now deploy consistent deep learning inspection on threats, across networks and cloud, delivered from a single console,” said Saumitra Das, CTO and co-founder, Blue Hexagon.

The Blue Hexagon deep learning-powered threat protection platform for AWS inspects a copy of the AWS cloud workload traffic, including payloads and headers, for threats. The Blue Hexagon platform can detect known and unknown threats including zero days in less than a second, at almost 100% detection rates. When a threat is detected, Blue Hexagon can generate a notification into AWS Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS) which can be consumed and orchestrated by any downstream services such as Amazon GuardDuty or AWS Lambda. These services can invoke an AWS Cloud Formation Template (CFT) to shutdown or quarantine the infected workload, ensuring complete security for business-critical applications.

Blue Hexagon customers will be able to manage, configure and perform analysis of threats detected in for both enterprise network and AWS cloud environments on the same Blue Hexagon platform dashboard.
