Nearly 800 Symetra employees to volunteer at 54 nonprofits—34 in Puget Sound region

BELLEVUE, Wash.--()--Symetra CEO Margaret Meister joined hundreds of company employees yesterday who turned out to volunteer at community projects across Symetra’s Puget Sound hometown region and around the country as the national provider of employee benefits, annuities and life insurance kicked off its 11th annual Symetra Week of Service.

From June 10-14, nearly 800 Symetra employee-volunteers will take time from their workday, roll up their sleeves and tackle 73 projects on behalf of 54 nonprofit organizations. They have contributed more than 16,000 Week of Service hours since the program began in 2009.

  • Ashland, Wis.—Ashland Historical Society Museum, Ashland Parks and Recreation, Chequamegon Humane Association and Northern Great Lakes Visitors Center.
  • Enfield, Conn.—Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Elizabeth Park Conservancy and Enfield Food Shelf.
  • Farmington, Conn.—Camp Courant, Food Share, Northwest Park and the Simon (Animal) Foundation.
  • Miami—Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and Zoo Miami.
  • Norcross, Ga.—Norcross Cooperative Ministry.
  • Waltham, Mass.—Waltham Boys & Girls Club and Waltham Fields Community Farm.
  • West Des Moines, Iowa—Blank Children’s Hospital, Central Iowa Shelter & Services, Meals from the Heartland and Ronald McDonald House.
