SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ernst & Young LLP (EY) announced the appointment of Phillip Mazzie as the new Managing Partner of its San Francisco office. Mazzie will be responsible for leading an office of nearly 1700 people, developing EY’s professionals by fostering a strong culture of exceptional client service, driving market leadership, amplifying the EY brand and building relationships through strong engagement in the San Francisco market.
Mazzie brings more than two decades of experience to his new role and has held a number of strategic leadership positions at EY. He has deep experience servicing global clients, with a focus on advising them on their capital agenda strategies, helping them reshape their companies, achieve their growth agendas and make informed corporate finance decisions.
Prior to taking on this role, Mazzie served EY as its West Region Transaction Advisory Services Leader and West Leader of Operational Transaction Services. During his tenure at EY, he has worked on complex transactions ranging in size from $1 million to $60 billion, and brought insights and solutions to some of the most high-profile clients in the Bay Area and around the world.
Mazzie succeeds Lee Dutra, who led the San Francisco office for nearly a decade and held a multitude of leadership roles in his more than 35 years at EY. Dutra will now focus on working with Mazzie and senior partners on a variety of strategic initiatives and continue serving market-leading global clients in the consumer products, retail, business services and manufacturing industries.
“Phillip will be instrumental in continuing to develop EY’s strong relationships with community, government, and business leaders across the San Francisco Bay Area and I am confident that he will build on the remarkable contributions of his predecessor,” said Kay Matthews, Ernst & Young LLP West Region Managing Partner. “Phillip is deeply committed to our purpose of building a better working world, and he will partner closely with our teams, clients and the greater San Francisco Bay Area community to leave a legacy of improved business performance, confidence and trust.”
Mazzie is passionate about creating positive impact in his community, and previously served on the board of directors for Compass Family Services. He is committed to closing the gender gap in business, providing youth mentorship, developing future leaders and supporting entrepreneurs through programs like EY’s Women. Fast Forward initiative, Entrepreneur Of The Year® and the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons, and joining them for bike rides along the San Francisco Bay.
“San Francisco is such a dynamic city and I am thrilled to lead our office here,” said Mazzie. “I am extremely proud that our professionals reflect the vibrant, innovative and diverse energy of the City. I hope to create opportunities for our people to continue to engage in the San Francisco community in meaningful ways, and to help our clients successfully navigate the unprecedented change they’re facing.”
