NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Penumbra Brands, a leading mobile device accessories and technology company, today announced the appointment of Anne “Petey” McKnight as vice president of marketing.
McKnight will direct the company’s marketing efforts and dotcom initiatives for the Gadget Guard, Black Ice and alara brands, working to catapult these brands to similar success as Xfinity Mobile, Samsung and Sprint. As a member of the executive team, she will craft messaging and go-to-market strategies for the company’s device protection products along with its innovative RF radiation reduction solutions, both domestically and internationally.
“We hired Petey because we want her experience and leadership to guide us through the launch of some incredible innovations we have planned in the mobile device market over the next couple of years,” said Gentry Jensen, CEO for Penumbra Brands. “Her knowledge of the mobile landscape and her track record of success will help Penumbra Brands continue to win nationally and internationally.”
McKnight brings extensive marketing experience in the wireless industry with a proven ability to successfully launch new generations of wireless products and services with on-point messaging, integrated product launches, and channel promotions. Most recently, McKnight served as vice president of marketing for Xfinity Mobile, where she led the brand development and launch at Comcast. That launch gained more than 200,000 customers in less than 4 months and more than 1 million customers by the end of its first year, winning multiple national marketing and international awards.
At Samsung Telecommunications America, she and the marketing team grew revenue five-fold from 2009 to 2014 and built Samsung into a top 10 brand worldwide. McKnight was the marketing leader on the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S 3, 4, and 5 and several other iconic brands, changing paradigms of the industry.
McKnight also spent 11 years at Sprint PCS in executive roles, including director of strategic planning and as one of the company’s first directors of consumer marketing. She pioneered the idea of Sprint PCS Free & Clear, which helped Sprint PCS reach $10 billion in revenue. She also led marketing efforts for the launch of text messaging and Wireless Web, both industry firsts in the U.S.
“I look forward to helping establish Penumbra as an industry innovator in creating mobile device accessories and stepping forward as the category leader in protection from cell phone radiation,” McKnight said. “I’m excited about the future of our unique products for mobile devices as well as advancing Penumbra Brands’ initiatives around the education of implications of mobile phone RF frequencies and the implementation of 5G.”
