EDWARDS AFB, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Corvias, a partner to the U.S. military for the construction and management of on-base housing, is nearing completion of renovations to more than 100 homes at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
In addition to bringing the homes up-to-date, this latest round of renovation projects, which began in 2017, showcase Corvias’ commitment to resident service and satisfaction. Of the 104 homes being renovated, 96 have been fully finished with the remaining homes slated for completion as residents vacate in accordance to the permanent change in station (PCS) schedule.
Between 2015 and 2018, Corvias completed similar renovations to 522 homes as part of the initial development period. The full scope of work and renovations for this round of projects was determined based on resident feedback from the annual resident survey as well as input from wing leadership.
“These renovations are a piece of the greater plan we developed for the Edwards community in 2013 at the beginning of our 50-year partnership,” said John G. Picerne, Founder and CEO of Corvias. “In addition to finance and operations, Corvias team members are regularly looking for opportunities to improve and enhance the quality of life for all residents and families within the community.”
Renovations to the homes, which were built in 1998 and 1999, include both exterior and interior enhancements such as new paint, lighting, carpet replacement and upgrades from carpet to luxury vinyl plank flooring, appliance upgrades, landscaping and garage renovations.
“We are proud partners of the Air Force and this work is important; it demonstrates our continued commitment to improving our communities and the resident experience,” added Picerne.
Through the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI), enacted by Congress in 1996, Corvias’ housing program leverages private-sector capital, as well as housing industry expertise in construction and management, to reverse the military’s housing deficiency by expanding and modernizing housing, with predictable, stable long-term operating costs and performance.
At Edwards AFB, Corvias works collaboratively with the US Air Force, the 412th Test Wing, and the US Air Force Test Pilot School, and manages a community of 741 homes, including 226 duplex and 296 single homes, and 219 non-debt serviced unit (NDSU) homes in seven existing neighborhoods. The renovation program brings the homes up-to-date with improved exterior aesthetic characteristics, as well as interior design enhancements.
