SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Eventbrite (NYSE: EB), a global ticketing and event technology platform, and Facebook today announced the launch of Ticketing on Facebook, powered by Eventbrite — a platform-based offering from Eventbrite that brings new ticketing functionality to Facebook. Rollout in the U.S. begins today, opening up a new way for event creators on Facebook to engage with attendees of their events and gatherings.
Ticketing on Facebook, powered by Eventbrite, allows anyone with a Facebook Page in the U.S. to select ‘Create Tickets’ in the initial event setup, thereby easily adding paid or free tickets to their event. Tickets will be prominently displayed on the Facebook Event page, giving attendees the ability to not just indicate their interest in attending, but to fulfill that interest by purchasing paid tickets or registering for non-paid events, without ever having to leave Facebook.
“Eventbrite and Facebook both share a passion to inspire connection and help bring people together. Past generations built their identities around their material possessions, but our newsfeeds today are filled with experiences, not the things we own,” said Pat Poels, SVP of Platform at Eventbrite. “700 million1 people use Facebook Events each month and partnering on this initiative is our effort to better serve the people responsible for bringing those events and gatherings to life—including small businesses and entrepreneurs whose core business is not throwing events.”
“For the past several years, Facebook and Eventbrite have been partnering closely to help bring people together with the communities and live experiences that they love,” said Sue Young, Director of Product Management at Facebook. “Our partnership has enabled people to seamlessly and securely purchase tickets to events on Facebook. With this product, we are making it easier for event organizers to create and start selling tickets directly on Facebook by helping them complete the process without ever leaving the app.”
Key benefits include:
- Efficiency for those that need it most: Ticketing on Facebook, powered by Eventbrite, empowers those small businesses and entrepreneurs with the fewest resources — be it time, technology, or events expertise. In addition to online ticketing and payments, it will include basic event management tools like the ability to track registrations and sales via a dashboard, and tools to help hosts communicate with their attendees.
- Enhanced accuracy: Selling tickets or taking registrations online prior to an event—whether those tickets are free or paid—helps hosts distinguish between people that are “interested” and those that are more likely to show up, so they can better predict and plan for attendance. With a better sense of who’s coming, hosts can make important operational decisions around catering and venue size with more confidence.
- Up-leveled attendee experience: Make attendees happy with an easy and safe online ticket purchase, and a quick check-in at the door with a simple scan of their mobile or printed ticket. Events will feel more professional and provide attendees with greater peace of mind by way of automated confirmation and reminder emails about their ticket purchase in the lead-up to the event.
Pits and Pals Owner, Rosemary Reese, adds, “The Eventbrite Facebook ticketing partnership is win-win. The feedback from our customers has been amazing. They have a convenient way to prepay for our classes, and they have the option of buying them for their friends. At the same time, the ticketing functionality has helped me better predict attendance. Now, I can keep marketing my events until I fill every spot.”
