A recognized IT security expert by technology think-tank Gartner, Inc., Burnette spoke on cybersecurity awareness and identified three characteristics of humans that lead to breakdowns in cybersecurity: human curiosity, the trusting and helpful nature of most people, and unfamiliarity with cybersecurity risks. Burnette points out that most successful cyber-attacks take place when a human makes a mistake, not the computer.

Burnette has more than 20 years of experience and travels the U.S. speaking at business conferences as an expert on the full range of people, process, and technology risks that organizations face. In 2018 he spoke at nine major conferences on various topics such as blockchain, cybersecurity issues in healthcare, and his popular talk “Dear President Trump: How to Secure the United States.”
