NEW ORLEANS--()--Southeastern Grocers, Inc. (SEG), parent company and home of BI-LO, Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores, announces today that it will donate $52,184 to Ochsner Hospital for Children. Bolstering its commitment to communities throughout Louisiana, Winn-Dixie’s successful Mardi Gras initiatives have raised more than $100,000 for Ochsner Hospital for Children over the last two years.

This year’s donation of more than $52,000 was raised through a combination of generous customer contributions, a percentage of king cakes sales during Mardi Gras season and dedicated funds from Winn-Dixie Gives.

Anthony Hucker, President and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, said, “We continue to value and appreciate the unwavering generosity of our Louisiana associates and customers. The kindheartedness of this community will enable Ochsner Hospital for Children to continue their life-changing work across the Gulf Coast. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership with this organization and others that touch the lives of those we serve.”

Winn-Dixie’s relationship with Ochsner Hospital for Children continues to expand through community events and partnerships with local schools. This year, art students from Riverdale High School supported Winn-Dixie’s efforts by decorating 63 second line umbrellas representing Winn-Dixie’s 63 years of service in South Louisiana. The second line umbrellas were showcased at Ochsner’s annual King Cake Festival, which Winn-Dixie proudly sponsored in 2019.

Thomas Harris, Jr., FACHE, Vice President of Pediatrics at Ochsner Hospital for Children, said, “The Ochsner Hospital for Children family is so grateful that New Orleans has embraced King Cake Festival and its cause. The generosity of Winn-Dixie touches the lives of so many in our community by helping us provide the quality healthcare our kids need and deserve.”

Winn-Dixie is honored to partner with organizations like Ochsner Hospital for Children that share a passion to serve communities in need throughout Louisiana. The dollars raised for the health system will help to support patients and programs that offer personalized patient care to children with a range of physical, cognitive and behavioral disabilities.
