PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AT&T SportsNet, the official TV home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, announced today it will produce and distribute 153 regular season games and 10 spring training games. The season starts on the road in Cincinnati on March 28th against the Reds, with the first home game being on April 1st versus the division rivals St. Louis Cardinals. The network broadcasts will include pre-game and post-game shows all season.
Greg Brown and Joe Block will handle play-by play duties again this season, with Steve Blass, Bob Walk and John Wehner continuing as the color analysts. AT&T SportsNet on-air personality Robby Incmikoski will provide coverage from the field as Pirates sideline reporter and former Pirates catcher Michael McKenry will return to provide pre-game and post-game analysis. Joining Incmikoski and McKenry throughout the season are AT&T SportsNet’s Stan Savran and Rob King, who will host Pirates pre-game and post-game shows, and Dan Potash, who will handle both anchoring and sideline responsibilities.
This season will mark the end of an era, as after 60 years with the organization, Pirates legend Steve Blass will retire from his broadcast duties at the end of the season. AT&T SportsNet will honor Steve Blass by celebrating his distinguished career with special features and stories from former teammates that will look back on his Pirates career, both as a player and broadcaster. These features will air every Saturday night throughout the season.
AT&T SportsNet will also honor the 40th anniversary of the Pirates 1979 World Series Championship this season. The network will air special programing that celebrates the ’79 anniversary with key moments and stories about the team that will air in every Sunday pregame show which will coincide with the Pirates wearing the ’79 uniforms on Sunday home games.
Returning this season AT&T SportsNet will make Pirates games available for AT&T SportsNet subscribers to stream through a participating authorized television provider in the territory, on our AT&T SportsNet mobile apps and web platform when located in the same region. Games will be available to those viewers who subscribe to a cable, telco, or satellite pay TV provider that carries AT&T SportsNet and has agreed to allow their customers streaming access.
In addition to game broadcasts, AT&T SportsNet will provide fans with extra Pirates coverage all season long including LIVE Pirates Pregame presented by W.B. Mason and Pirates post-game presented by Allegheny Health Network for all 153 games, new episodes of Inside Pirates Baseball presented by Allegheny Health Network, and other exclusive Pirates-related programming.
