SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Eaze, a leading cannabis software platform and marketplace, today announced that its on-demand delivery platform is now available in Portland, marking its first expansion outside California. Oregon-based dispensary Kaleafa is partnering with Eaze to provide safe, legal access to cannabis for adults.
The partnership expands Oregonians’ access to the best local brands, complements Portland’s thriving cannabis market, and brings Eaze’s extensive experience supporting compliant delivery and strong brand partnerships to Oregon.
“Launching in Oregon is a pivotal moment for Eaze. After supporting more than three million legal deliveries in California, we’re proud to team up with Kaleafa as our first Oregon partner to deliver to Portland,” said Eaze President and Chief Operating Officer Ro Choy. “Kaleafa is a family-owned business committed to providing a premier cannabis experience, and we hope it’s the first of many partnerships in Oregon.”
Eaze helps local retailers and brands build sustainable cannabis businesses with technology that supports regulatory compliance, track and trace integration, inventory management, and safe on-demand delivery.
“We wanted to serve more customers at a faster pace, and to get to that next level, we needed a partner like Eaze,” said Kaleafa’s Chief Operating Officer Julie Widmer. “We chose Eaze because they share our values. Kaleafa is about creating a safe environment that’s education-focused and empathetic to every customer, whether it’s a disabled veteran or a soccer mom.”
Oregon voters have long supported safe access to legal cannabis, approving a medical program in 1998, and recreational cannabis in 2014. Today, the regulated legal cannabis market in Oregon is growing, with more than $540M in recreational sales in 2018 alone. The state’s Office of Economic Analysis expects the market to exceed $1B in sales by 2025. The Kaleafa/Eaze partnership supports these economic outcomes and was applauded by business leadership.
"The Portland Business Alliance welcomes the partnership between Oregon-based Kaleafa and Eaze, which will expand Portland’s access to legal cannabis,” said Portland Business Alliance President and CEO Andrew Hoan, “Collaborations like this align with our mission to strengthen small businesses, boost our local economies, and provide one-of-a-kind customer experiences.”
Eaze’s expansion to Oregon continues a period of significant growth for the company, which launched Eaze Wellness CBD delivery to 41 states and the District of Columbia in November 2018 and closed a $65M Series C round of financing the following month, bringing total funding to-date to $117M. In January 2019, Eaze announced that first-time cannabis consumers on the platform grew by 140% over the previous calendar year in its 2018 “State of Cannabis” report.
