NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In the next phase of its continued commitment to local broadcast stations and their viewers, Syncbak, the world’s leader in live local OTT streaming, today announced the launch of the industry’s first straight-to-OTT syndication marketplace, MarketSync. Less than a year after launching SBTV, the company will unveil the MarketSync content marketplace and app at NATPE in Miami this month. Building upon the company’s sponsorship of the event, Syncbak will demonstrate to content providers and broadcasters alike how to syndicate, deliver and monetize original content via SBTV’s MarketSync app.
SBTV allows local stations to build live and on-demand over-the-top channels in both the markets they currently serve and anywhere else in the US if they have content rights to do so. Custom OTT channels include news, weather and sports as well as hyper-local live events and original programming from SBTV’s content marketplace. With over 100 stations currently streaming on SBTV and plans to more than double that number in 2019, the company saw an opportunity to create a marketplace that would allow the broadcast stations streaming on SBTV instant access to content, allowing them to quickly license content to fill their OTT lineups.
Powerhouse station group Gray Television is the first station group to start licensing content via MarketSync. “We’re doubling down on OTT in 2019 and MarketSync is a huge piece of that effort for us,” said Hilton Howell, chairman at Gray Television. “What our viewers and advertisers need is more content delivered anytime, anywhere, on whatever device they choose. That’s what SBTV delivers, and MarketSync gives us immediate access to that content,” added Howell.
“When I started Syncbak, my vision was to make television work like the internet,” said Jack Perry, founder of Syncbak. “To do that, I knew we had to connect broadcasters, viewers, advertisers and content owners in real-time. Now, with a simple 'swipe' the process of syndicating content gets started. It’s easy and fun and will change the licensing game for OTT,” added Perry.
