LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kasa SmartTM by TP-Link®, a leader in bringing the smart home to life with more than 2.5 million users, is redefining the smart home at CES® 2019 through an “one ecosystem, one cloud” approach. This new approach is powered by a product interaction platform, called Smart Actions, and artificial intelligence engine that connects smart home devices across categories, and adds features such as person and package detection, face recognition and an AI filtered video summary. Smart Actions and the new AI features will work across the Kasa Smart portfolio including the seven newly unveiled products at CES (See press release: Kasa Smart Storms CES with 7 New Smart Home Products) and will be added to the Kasa Care premium plans throughout 2019.
“The Kasa Smart cloud facilitates an average of 50 million cloud interactions per day like turning on a light or recording a video when motion is detected,” notes David Li, CEO of TP-Link Research America. “Imagine providing those individual cloud interactions with a layer of artificial intelligence, where they can trigger events on their own – the possibilities of customized combinations are immense. Especially in light of our growing portfolio of reliable smart home products, consumers also benefit from a better user experience including easier setup and an improvement in latency, allowing the user to upgrade from a connected home to a truly smart home.”
Smart Actions is a cloud-based interaction platform that enables intelligent communication between different product categories within the Kasa Smart ecosystem, allowing users to create meaningful ties between smart home products. For example, if a Kasa Smart security camera detects motion, it can inform a Kasa Smart light switch to automatically turn on the lights inside the home while at the same time turning on the patio lights connected to a Kasa Smart outdoor plug.
The AI engine further complements the communication between devices with package and person detection and even face recognition. As an example, with the face recognition feature on the Kasa Smart Video Doorbell, users can create a Smart Action that triggers their Kasa Smart Wire-Free Camera Hub, with a built-in speaker, to automatically play occupancy sounds indoors when a stranger is detected at the front door. To deter potential intruders, Smart Actions can automatically initiate occupancy noises like a dog barking, or even sounding a siren while at the same time turning on the lights.
Video Summary allows a quick review of a days’ worth of motion events captured by a Kasa Smart security camera or video doorbell by presenting the users with a scrollable time-lapsed daily brief, saving users time and eliminating the need to review video footage with no activity. Video Summary becomes even more powerful when combined with AI features like person detection, allowing algorithms to filter the time-lapse video for motion detection events that are only based on a person being detected.
The Kasa Smart product lineup including Smart Actions, AI features, and Video Summary will be showcased at CES, Jan. 8-11, in the Kasa Smart booth in the Sands Convention Center #42756.
Availability
