SEOUL, South Korea--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hyundai MOBIS (KRX:012330), the world’s seventh largest automotive tier-one supplier, based in Seoul, Korea, will showcase its vision of the car of the future and innovations it is developing for it at CES® 2019, January 7-11, in Las Vegas, Nevada. This will be Hyundai MOBIS’ fourth consecutive year at the world’s largest consumer technology show. It plans to build upon its reputation as a leader of future vehicle technology by introducing several new autonomous driving, eco-friendly, intelligent lighting, and infotainment and cockpit experience technologies.
Hyundai MOBIS’ presence at CES® comes on the heels of exciting OEM partner reveals and announcements made earlier in the year centered around the supplier’s increased investment in autonomous driving technology R&D, and added focus on increasing its autonomous driving engineer and technical team.
Focused on the Future
While the global tier-one auto supplier supports many OEM customers to address today’s automotive industry demands, Hyundai MOBIS will give CES® attendees a first-hand look and feel of how future mobility will evolve the car of the future, presenting a number of technologies that can only be experienced with Level 4 and 5 autonomous vehicles where the driver does not have to pay attention to the road.
“Hyundai MOBIS is committed to developing technologies that will become essential parts of the vehicle of the future, and we are proud of the agility with which we are able to bring these concepts to life,” said Senior Vice President and Head of the Electrical and Electronics R&D Center, Jaeho Chang. “This year at CES®, Hyundai MOBIS will give attendees, and the world, a broad-spectrum view of how the vehicle of the future will evolve as the role of the driver transitions into a passenger.”
Attendees that visit Hyundai MOBIS’ more than 4,700 square foot exhibit will be able to interact with their
Autonomous Driving Interior Concept Car—complete with:
- Virtual Touch Technology – interior infotainment controls that recognize a driver’s gestures in the air, instead of touch screen displays. For example, the driver can enjoy a movie on autonomous driving mode and use tap gestures in the air to select other movies or adjust the volume.
- Emotional Recognition Technology – an AI platform categorizes a driver’s/passenger’s emotion to automatically change the interior ambiance of the vehicle, cater to various “moods” while sharing the emotions of drivers/passengers in nearby vehicles also outfitted with this technology—helping to avoid potential accidents among disengaged or distracted drivers/passengers.
- Windshield Display Technology – a windshield that is transparent during manual driving mode, but when changed to autonomous driving mode, can be blacked out and used to view everything from trip navigation updates to movies and streaming entertainment.
- Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology – electricity generated from combining hydrogen injected with fuel and oxygen can power a vehicle that emits only pure water—a technology that is expected to grow rapidly in the future. Hyundai MOBIS will showcase latest developments at their Hydrogen Fuel Cell Zone at CES®.
Hyundai MOBIS will also showcase their “Communication Lighting Concept,”—a technology that builds upon the supplier’s Advanced Driver-Assist System (ADAS) linked Advanced Drive Beam (ADB) technology announced earlier this year. The concept enables autonomous vehicles to communicate with pedestrians and other vehicles on the road using intelligent lighting. Hyundai MOBIS plans to showcase the concept at CES® at a time when the U.S. looks to revise its banning policy on ADB-enabled, self-dimming headlamps used on U.S. roads.
Ready for Business
On January 8, Hyundai MOBIS will host a technology presentation at their CES® booth focused on the global supplier’s autonomous driving, connectivity and advanced automotive lighting solutions. On stage to present from Hyundai MOBIS will be Vice President of In-vehicle Infotainment System Development, Carsten Weiss, and Director of Lamp Engineering, Mirco Goetz.
For OEMs, suppliers and tech companies in the future mobility space wishing to learn more about partnering with Hyundai MOBIS, the company will host meetings and private showings of additional ADAS-, and infotainment-focused products on the second floor of the Hyundai MOBIS exhibit.
Hyundai MOBIS welcomes all visitors from January 7-11 at Booth 3931 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center.
