FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--International Data Corporation (IDC) today published an IDC Innovators report profiling five companies that offer compelling and differentiated general purpose AI software platforms. The five companies named IDC Innovators are Arago, Ayasdi, CognitiveScale, Kyndi, and Primer.
AI software platforms facilitate the development of intelligent, advisory, process automation and AI-centric applications. The technology components of AI software platforms include text analytics, rich media (such as audio, video, and image) analytics, tagging, searching, machine learning, deep learning, categorization, clustering, hypothesis generation, question answering, visualization, filtering, alerting, and navigation. These platforms typically include knowledge representation tools, such as knowledge graphs, triple stores, or other types of NoSQL data stores, as well as machine learning tools to provide some level of recommendation, prediction, or automation. The platforms also provide for knowledge curation and continuous automatic learning based on past experiences.
"AI-enabled applications are being increasingly used by many types of organizations to provide advice, recommendations, predictions, and business process automation," said David Schubmehl, research director, Cognitive/Artificial Intelligence Systems at IDC. "Many of these organizations are undertaking projects developing these AI-enabled applications based on the use of commercially available AI software platforms that contain the technologies need to quickly create, develop, implement, and test these new types of applications."
Arago offers an AI software platform that enables autonomous process automation by leveraging algorithms that apply human expertise to determine solutions, and by retaining that knowledge to solve similar new challenges.
Ayasdi combines topological data analysis (TDA) with machine learning to build intelligent applications that have the ability to discover patterns in data, predict future outcomes based on current data, justify its predictions, and learn from its mistakes as well as from new data.
CognitiveScale is an AI development platform that manages the entire lifecycle of AI application development, testing, and production. It includes capabilities for AI orchestration and composition as well as providing pre-built "AI skills" and industry AI application accelerators to speed up development.
Kyndi is an AI software platform that has abilities to automatically identify, extract, and connect disparate information entities, relationships, and events into usable knowledge graphs that can be searched and exploited for general purpose question answering.
Primer uses natural language processing and natural language understanding to extract knowledge from millions of unstructured documents in near real time across multiple languages and to automatically create written reports using natural language generation.
The report, IDC Innovators: AI Software Platforms, 2018 (IDC #US44505718), profiles five emerging vendors with compelling and differentiated general purpose AI software platforms.
About IDC Innovators
IDC
Innovators reports present a set of vendors – under $100 million in
revenue at time of selection – chosen by an IDC analyst within a
specific market that offer an innovative new technology, a
groundbreaking approach to an existing issue, and/or an interesting new
business model. It is not an exhaustive evaluation of all companies in a
segment or a comparative ranking of the companies. Vendors in the
process of being acquired by a larger company may be included in the
report provided the acquisition is not finalized at the time of
publication of the report. Vendors funded by venture capital firms may
also be included in the report even if the venture capital firm has a
financial stake in the vendor's company. IDC INNOVATOR and IDC
