“HAIKYU!! VOLLEYBALL CARD GAME”
On the 22 of November 2018, at Movenpick Hotel Hanoi, Showa Brain Navi Vietnam Co., Ltd. held the product launch event for “Haikyu!! Volleyball card game” into Vietnamese market. This is one of the most popular trading card games in Japan, officially translated and introduced in Vietnam for the first time.
Attending the event were partners and enterprises in the entertainment industry such as Kim Dong Publishing House, Takara Tomy- a leading figure in the Japanese trading card game (TCG) market, Vietnamese domestic distributors, and retailers.
TCG was created in 1993, then grew tremendously both in quality and quantity in Japan, and has become one of the flagship products of Japanese entertainment industry. The first and the most internationally acclaimed TCG “Yu-Gi Oh!” is a huge commercial success that has been sold more than 30 billion cards in many languages worldwide. TCG is a fast growing market with famous titles such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Duel Masters, Cardfight!! Vanguard, Weiß Schwarz, not only dominating Japan but being introduced in different languages to many countries also attracting an enormous number of players around the world.
In a direct combat style of two players, in order to win, players need to come up with various strategies, integrate with different kinds of cards; therefore, TCG is said to enhance players’ strategic thinking and creativity. The highly aesthetic and exclusively designed cards themselves are at the same time valuable collectibles for TCG fans.
Players in Vietnam had long ago come in contact with TCG products
imported and copied from Japan and other countries through unofficial
channels. However, due to lack of a licensed Vietnamese version made for
Vietnamese, language barrier has been keeping many potential players
from enjoying the game; therefore, Vietnam TCG market is still being
overlooked.
Realizing that practical need from Vietnamese TCG
fandom, Brain Navi Asia (under Wedge Holdings (Japan)) had acquired from
Tomy Company Ltd. the license to develop and distribute TCG “Haikyu!!
Volleyball card game” in Vietnam market. The Vietnamese version of this
product will be released under the name “Bộ cờ bóng chuyền Haikyu!!” by
the official importer and distributor Showa Brain Navi Vietnam.
The highly interesting, intellectual, “Haikyu!! Volleyball card game”,
being perfected from the translating step to design, edit, promises to
satisfy the expectation of fan community, at the same time provides
Vietnamese youth with a new wholesome mean of entertainment.
In the
first release stage, from November 2018 to January 2019, Showa Brain
Navi Vietnam will be collaborating with partners and retailers to
distribute free of charge the first Starter deck version Karasuno
nationwide.
At the Product launch event, besides showcasing the main product “Haikyu!! Volleyball card game”, Showa Brain Navi Vietnam also presented business opportunities and projects from Brain Navi Asia for developing additional TCG products in Vietnam as well as Asia market.
Also, at the event, guests had the opportunities to have a look at the both the Japanese and Vietnamese version of the “Haikyu!! Volleyball card game”. More than that, the game experiment corner allowed guests to watch and even join a real match in person to experience this fantastic game.

What is “Haikyu!! Volleyball card game”?
Haikyu!! Volleyball card game is a Trading Card Game released by Takara
Tomy in Japan in 2014. It based on the famous Haikyu!! comic series
written by Haruichi Furudate, having been published by Shueisha since
2012. The series is licensed in Vietnam by Kim Dong Publishing House,
under the name “Haikyu!! Chàng khổng lồ tí hon”. Haikyu!! Volleyball
card game had become very popular since it has grabbed the heart of the
non-Geek TCG users and become the best choice to play the “First TCG”
