LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Business Bank announces the award of a $20,000 Access to Housing and Economic Assistance Development (AHEAD) grant to the Weingart Center Association’s Workforce Development Program.
The Workforce Development program provides job coaching and essential job skills training for unskilled transient individuals seeking to reenter the workforce.
The grant is part of a $1.5 million disbursement of AHEAD funds that have been awarded through 31 Bank members to 54 innovative economic development projects and housing in Arizona, California and Nevada.
“The Workforce Development program is among the best of its kind, in terms of helping homeless individuals acquire the necessary skills to become productive members of society. Since the AHEAD program began in 2004, over $13 million in grants have been awarded to 459 nonprofit projects and programs supporting a variety of innovative economic and community development initiatives. Funding for the program is determined by Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco.
