DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Colorado.gov has been ranked the 5th best primary state government website in the country in a recent study done by the ITIF. The study assessed websites based on four criteria: page-load speed, friendliness, security, and accessibility. Colorado.gov scored highest in page-speed, accessibility, and security. These four criteria were also used in the bulk of the study; ranking each state on its web presence of their most used e-services. The web pages for the following services were components to a high scoring state: obtaining a driver’s license, tax information, vital records, election information, business registration, fishing or hunting licensing, and information on traffic citations. The study rated each e-service site and combined that score with the score of the primary state government website to develop the ranking of all 50 states. Impressively, Colorado, as a collection of state websites, also ranked 5th in the country. “It is a great thing to see Colorado doing so well in providing an online platform for resident-facing information and services,” said Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) Executive Director Jack Arrowsmith. “Our state values technology for transparency and efficiency and we appreciate that we can partner with our strong tech peers in the state to provide these effective services.”
One of the partnerships referred to is that of SIPA and Colorado Interactive (CI), SIPA’s portal integrator. SIPA, the authority that runs Colorado.gov, was founded in 2004 by Colorado statute and works with CI to assist governments in putting information and services online for residents. The portal primarily offers no-cost technologies based on a self funded model to special districts, municipalities, counties, and state agencies spread across Colorado. The SIPA/CI partnership provides the state of Colorado with secure, responsive, and updated websites,” said CI’s President and General Manager, Mike Ansley. “The partnership provides valuable resources that all municipalities and governments across Colorado should leverage.”
Notable Colorado website mentions were the Colorado.gov/tax site ranking 3rd in state tax websites, the Colorado site for election information (5th place), and the Colorado site for traffic citations (5th place). SIPA provides no-cost payment processing, websites, and customized online forms to entities across the state.
