CORALVILLE, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Emerging health IT start-up HealthTech Solutions has named Cindy Edge as Director of Engineering. With over 30 years of experience delivering technology solutions to growth markets in the commercial software development arena, Edge will bring her leadership and knowledge to HTS to help further develop and design the company’s software to stabilize strategic infrastructure and structured development methodologies and ensure uninterrupted product performance in the field. The company’s first product, TXP ChatTM, connects Organ Transplant Centers, Organ Procurement Organizations and Clinicians and Coordinators through a secure HIPAA-compliant mobile messaging and workflow app to simplify real-time clinical communication, coordination and decision support when time matters.
Edge has been involved in a broad range of early stage and large corporate environments including Rockwell Collins, Pearson Educational Measurement, McLeodUSA, Teleconnect/Telecom*USA/MCI, and the Ben Franklin Advanced Technology Incubator Center. Her experience encompasses developing technology solutions to growth markets, from product development, for which she holds several patents, to highly structured design, development and delivery of business-critical user applications, database systems/analytics applications and network infrastructure design and support. She is an active volunteer for the University of Iowa Stead Hospital, One Mission Fundraising, and the Monarch Research Project, and is on the Board of Directors for Red Shamrock Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on pediatric cancer patient support. She was recently rewarded the Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Services in Iowa.
“After learning about the organ procurement and allocation process, and the fact that thousands of people die each year waiting for a life-saving transplant while 54 percent of viable organs are discarded, in part, due to the highly complex communications requirements, I knew I wanted to join this passionate team of entrepreneurs to make a difference,” commented Edge. “I look forward to leveraging my experience delivering state-of-the-art telecommunications systems to position HTS as a best-in-class solution.”
Organ transplant is a complicated, time-sensitive process that relies on numerous phone calls and faxes per donated organ. This inefficient communication contributes to over 50 percent of available organs being wasted when a significant portion could be transplanted; meanwhile, 22 patients die each day in the US waiting for a life-saving organ, over 120,000 people continue to wait for a major organ transplant, and the average wait time is over five years.
Founded by Dalton Shaull and Eric Pahl, HealthTech Solutions, Inc. is a company that applies artificial intelligence methods for the orchestration of the highly complex and time-sensitive organ transplant process. The company’s first technology, TXP ChatTM, is a HIPAA-compliant messaging platform that delivers clinical decision support to help reduce the discard of transplantable organs through real-time facilitation of communication between all facets of clinical decision-makers.
